Manager - Technical Publication

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for establishing and leading the Pune branch of the Vertiv Global Technical Publications team. Will teach, train and implement overall department processes, policies and goals. Reports into the Senior Manager of Global Technical Publications and is responsible for organizing, planning and scheduling local team projects while supporting the overall global team vision and mission. Able to work with and facilitate positive relationships with Global Business Units (GBUs), all Lines of Business (LOB), other departments and OEM customers with specific needs. Able to develop standard documentation methods to effectively communicate product concepts and information. Acts as liaison between the writers and external departments, as well as upper-management, as needed.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES :

Performs the following functions:

  • Prioritizes, coordinates and assigns all work to ensure timely completion and alignment with product release schedules. Able to manage multiple complex project schedules across multiple product lines and businesses.
  • Liaison between Publications and other areas of the company, including senior/executive management.
  • Works on issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of organizational objectives, as well as an understanding of company workings. 
  • Monitors/manages team compliance with internal/external legal regulations, ensuring that development is compliant with localization best practices. 
  • Writes and edits documentation in English, when necessary. May gather technical information, research available engineering information and interact with engineers/other technical personnel to ensure the clarity, completeness, accuracy and quality of Publications-generated documents. Troubleshoots and ensures consistent high quality. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

REQUIREMENTS :  

  • Minimum of 5 years of people-management experience, ideally including experience with managing globally-distributed teams.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related writing experience with a bachelor’s degree in engineering (BSC- any stream/BCA or equivalent degree). Additional degrees/certifications in professional writing, technical writing, digital writing/communications, journalism or English are preferred. At least 5 or more years of equivalent experience in a relevant field may be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
  • Fluent in and able to communicate, understand and explain complex concepts in English.
  • Experience with writing for localization and working with international teams.
  • Proficiency in the following programs: Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat DC Pro, Adobe InDesign and Madcap Flare (or equivalent experience with a single-source desktop publishing tool).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with high attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated with the desire to be a team-player, positive team influence, and support team goals and mission.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, international team environment with multiple deadlines, limited resources and constant change.
  • Ability to support multiple time zones and travel as needed.
