Our wireless access point software team builds a wide range of Wi-Fi access points including the latest Wi-Fi 7 APs (Access Points). Our software team covers platform bring up for everything from boot loaders to web servers on prototype hardware, kernel, driver integration, Wi-Fi features, wireless security, BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) radio, and other sophisticated functions integrated into our product.
In this team, you will get exposed to software for most advanced technologies for wireless infrastructure devices. Same team will also automate and qualify these platforms. Your contributions as part of this team will have direct impact into connectivity experience for critically important applications across the world.
What You'll Do
You are deeply motivated and skilled Software developer and expected to deliver and lead through others, as well as personally working to reach innovative solutions to business problems. You will work closely with other team members and cross functional teams to design a solution, implement it, and take it through qualification all the way to customer shipment and support. You are excited to be the one responsible for power-on and bringing life to the most advanced networking system in the world.
Responsibilities:
In this role, we are looking for someone to help us expand and refine the capabilities of our wireless access points beyond simply Wi-Fi. As the world becomes more connected the need to support and simplify that connectivity grows.
As a senior wireless feature engineer, you will be tasked with architecting and implementing systems that help establish Cisco Wireless APs as viable and fully capable IoT gateways. You will work with variety of sensors including, but not limited to environmental and security sensors, thermostats, door locks and more.
With millions of APs deployed worldwide, this is an unrivaled opportunity to create something that could have immediate and significant impact throughout the world.
Example projects for a Wireless Features Engineer:
Crafting and implementing a secure and efficient authentication mechanism to allow safe and easy client connections Integrating drivers to add support for established protocols and systems Establishing a reporting system that is simple and intuitive and gives customers good insight into their network and clientsRequired skills:
Have 10+ years of experience with BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent Are fluent in writing C and C++ professional production code. Have experience working with one or more wireless protocols (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Zigbee, Thread, .4 or GSM/CDMA/5G) Have working knowledge of core network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, ARP) Understanding of OS fundamentals and experience working in both kernel space and user space Have effective interpersonal skills and a strong ability to collaborate with others Are proactive and willing to learn new things and tackle new challengesBonus points:
Experience building cloud-based infrastructure and services (e.g. web applications) Scripting skills in Ruby or Python Deep understanding of wireless protocols and network security fundamentals Experience working with version control, specifically GitWe encourage you to drop us a line even if you don’t have all the points above.
