About the Position

We are seeking a highly skilled Copy Editor with 3-4 years of experience in the print industry to oversee and maintain the editorial integrity of our publication. The ideal candidate will have a meticulous eye for detail, exceptional command of grammar and style, and a strong background in managing editorial workflows. As the Copy Editor, you will play a critical role in ensuring accuracy, clarity, and consistency across all content, while upholding the highest standards of journalism.

Areas of Responsibility

Editorial Delivery and Supervision: Oversee the copy editing process, ensuring all content meets established editorial standards, style guidelines, and publication policies. Completing tasks, getting feedback, and ensuring deadlines are met. Collaborate closely with editors, writers, designers and other stakeholders to maintain a cohesive editorial voice and style. Quality Control: Conduct thorough reviews of articles, features, and other content to identify and correct errors in grammar, and style. Ensure accuracy of facts, data, and sources through meticulous fact-checking and verification processes. Uphold legal and ethical standards in journalism, including copyright laws and defamation risks. Style Guide Maintenance: Maintain editorial style guidelines, ensuring consistency in language usage, formatting, and tone across all content. Stay updated on industry best practices, evolving language trends, and changes in editorial standards to continuously improve the style guide. Training and Development: Go through training and mentorship from senior copy editor and writers on grammar, style, and editorial best practices. Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with editors, layout designers, and production teams to coordinate editorial schedules and workflow priorities. Communicate effectively with stakeholders to resolve editorial queries, discuss content revisions, and address any concerns related to copy editing.

Educational Qualifications Required

Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English, Communications, or related field.

Relevant Experience

3-4 years of experience in copy editing, preferably within the print industry, with demonstrated progression in editorial roles. Exceptional command of grammar. Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Strong leadership skills, with experience in developing editorial talent. Keen attention to detail and ability to maintain high standards of accuracy under tight deadlines.
