About the Role


As a Cloud Data Engineer in our Enterprise Data Analytics & Enablement , you’ll play a key role in leading the development of a components-related data mesh platform within a GCP environment. This platform is designed with numerous capabilities to deliver a seamless data product experience to internal customers. This position plays a crucial role in ANZ's Data Strategy, focusing on the development of various products and services within the central data mesh platform ecosystem.

What will your day look like?

Low level Design, build, test and support a secure, robust and scalable Central Data Mesh Platform on Google Cloud Platform

Solving ambiguous and complex engineering problems

Work collaboratively within and across teams, Tech Areas and Domains

Utilise tools and practices to build, verify and deploy solutions in the most efficient ways, we place a high emphasis on Software Fundamentals

Implements a culture within the Tribe and the Chapter, encouraging best practices around reviews, quality, and documentation.

Provide ongoing support for platforms as required e.g. problem and incident management.

What will you bring?

2 years of experience building modern applications using GCP services such as Cloud Build, Cloud Functions/Cloud Run, GKE, Logging, GCS, BigQuery, and IAM.

Primary proficiency in Python, with experience in a secondary language such as Golang or Java.

Fair knowledge and hands-on experience with GKE/Kubernetes.

Strong emphasis on code and configuration management, CI/CD automation, and automated testing.

Experience with data warehouse solutions, preferably in a cloud environment.

Experience with ETL frameworks like Apache Beam or Apache Spark.

Familiarity with cloud-native data engineering tools/services such as Dataflow and Dataproc.

Experience working and delivering solutions in a complex enterprise environment.

Ability to integrate Kafka to handle real-time data.

Experience in migration of on-prem Hadoop data & pipelines to any cloud platform.

Proficiency in monitoring tools like Splunk and other cloud-native tools.

Candidates for Senior Engineer level must have a minimum of 5 years of IT experience, specifically in design and build activities
