About the Role
  • Wells Fargo is seeking a Software Engineering Senior Manager
  • This is a frontline management position primarily responsible for the application development, maintenance/support, and project delivery for Fraud Management Portfolio. This role requires strong subject matter expertise on fraud Domain and led Engineering teams with Application development, Data Analytics & Model development background to manage team in India. This leader must have fluency in engaging with a global team, experience working with U.S. time zones (eastern & pacific) and with managing customer experience related to Fraud - including protection of customer data and assessment of customer interactions and services. The role encompasses people management, technical/ functional expertise, and relationship/ stakeholder management.
  • This leader is required to possess strong subject matter experience in fraud, cybersecurity, and regulatory compliance experience. They must have led either engineering OR fraud risk operations/cybersecurity operations functions in their current role or prior roles with demonstrated expertise implementing large scale solutions across business units, possessing strategic thinking to manage a changing Fraud landscape, and a data-drive decision mind-set. This leader must have fluency in engaging with a global team, experience working with U.S. time zones (eastern & pacific) and with managing customer experience related to Fraud - including protection of customer data and assessment of customer interactions and services.
In this role, you will:
  • Manage, coach, and develop a team or teams of experienced engineers and engineering managers in roles with moderate complexity and risk, responsible for building high quality capabilities with modern technology
  • Ensure adherence to the Banking Platform Architecture, and meeting non-functional requirements with each release
  • Partner with, engage and influence architects and experienced engineers to incorporate Wells Fargo Technology technical strategies, while understanding next generation domain architecture and enable application migration paths to target architecture; for example cloud readiness, application modernization, data strategy
  • Function as the technical representative for the product during cross-team collaborative efforts and planning
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for driving escalated resolution of technology roadblocks including code, build and deployment while also managing overall software development cycle and security standards
  • Determine appropriate strategy and actions to act as an escalation partner for scrum masters and the teams to meet moderate to high risk deliverables and help remove impediments, obstacles, and friction while encouraging constant learning, experimentation, and continual improvement
  • Build engineering skills side-by-side in the codebase, conduct peer reviews to evaluate quality and solution alignment to technical direction, and guide design, as needed
  • Interpret, develop and ensure security, stability, and scalability within functions of technology with moderate complexity, as well as identify, manage and mitigate technology and enterprise risk
Responsibilities
  • Lead and Manage multiple teams engaged in development Fraud Management Applications
  • Handling mid-sized team with various management responsibilities that include: resource management, reviewing, assessing and managing quality of work, leading projects, developing a technology strategy and managing business relationships.
  • Interact effectively with Technology Partners and manages the partnership with line of business managers to deliver successful business results based on technology requirementsPeriodic review of current status of system applications and prepare recommendations for improvements.
  • Assure deliverables are as per the agreed requirements, conform to quality standards, and are delivered within committed timelines.
  • Ability to motivate staff to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure in a dynamic and complex environment
  • Provides technical direction to the project team: lead and participate in design discussions, code review
  • Work closely with the team to develop appropriate technical design and approach for application development.
  • Ability to actively engage business/technology partners, present, defend & challenge technical recommendations
  • Manage team of 15plus Team Members with focus on enhancing their technical/ domain skillsets.
  • Motivate team members and promote a strong sense of code quality, extensibility, reusability and urgency
  • Pro-actively identify talent needs, and plan for/ manage attrition
  • Instill best practices for software development and documentation.
  • Able to provide effort estimates, identify resource needs, and enforces project and delivery standards.
  • Create accurate project plans, schedules, and ensure efficient allocation of resources.
  • Build a culture of continuous improvement within team and put together metrics to measure the impact of their efforts
  • Ensure all the team are adhered to compliance related requirements.
Required Qualifications:
  • 6+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 3+ years of Management experience
Essential Qualifications
  • Bachelors in Engineering or equivalent and Must have 15+ Years of overall experience and proven record of leading and managing a minimum size of 15+ Technology Team members
  • Take ownership of delivery and manage multi-release projects in AGILE and Waterfall methodologies.
  • Work Experience in a matrix environment and build good working relationships with multiple stakeholders including onsite Technology partners.
  • Should possess Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills with ability to communicate effectively across organizational lines and with virtual team members.
  • Well verse in developing applications leveraging Java/J2EE, Angular, Springboot, Microservices Architecture & Design Patterns & Cloud Platform enablement
  • Working Experience on CI/CD & DevOps Engineering
  • Strong demonstrated people development skills to hire, coach, develop, and mentor team members.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguities & conflicts effectively (Technology, People, Process or partner).
  • Experience in an in-house center would be desirable.
  • Having management experience on Banking/Financial vertical
Desired Qualifications:
  • 15-18+ years' experience leading large, global application development and implementation teams. Experience coaching and mentoring managers, and individual contributors. Experience managing complex, diverse technology portfolios.
  • 5-10 years of technology leadership experience in the Fraud Services/Management domain
  • Executive leadership experience managing a complex technology organization of large scale, including managers, individual contributors and vendor resources across multiple global locations
  • Experience building products or leading engineering functions or data science operating at a global scale, and in a hybrid deployment model of cloud-native (e.g., GCP, Azure, AWS) and on-premises
  • Has experience leading operations functions that react and respond to critical events and incidents on technology, fraud, or cyber related matters
  • Experience in working in an automated DevOp's / DevSecOp's agile environment
  • Demonstrated ability to create and communicate vision and strategy
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and partnerships across a diverse set of IT Leaders and business partners
  • Experience managing vendor relationship and aligning vendor and Wells Fargo roadmaps
  • Broad understanding of application and infrastructure architecture domains
  • Proven track record influencing large technology transformations.
Technology Qualifications:
  • Strong Fraud Management Strategies and technology acumen
  • Knowledge of functional programming or modern programming language stack to build highly available and microservice/cloud native products and capabilities
  • Knowledge on Model Development & Data Analytics
  • Knowledge and implementation experience with traditional fraud related vendor technologies (e.g., Falcon, Actimize, check fraud detection products, etc.)
