As a Principal Software Engineering Manager at KnowBe4, you will play a pivotal role in driving our software engineering initiatives to new heights. Your expertise will shape our product development strategy and ensure the seamless integration of cutting-edge solutions into our cybersecurity offerings. 

Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership: Minimum 10 years of experience in software engineering, with a proven track record of 3+ years of successfully leading teams delivering software-driven products in a product development organization.Team Management: Lead and mentor a team of talented software engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.Product Development: Drive the design, development, deployment, maintenance, and bug fixing of KnowBe4 products.Customer Experience: Ensure seamless account migration across different regions to deliver exceptional customer experiences.Technical Roadmap: Define and execute the technical roadmap, aligning with strategic business objectives.Cross-functional collaboration: Collaborate effectively with teams across various geographical locations to understand product requirements and translate them into actionable engineering tasks.Project Management: Set clear project goals, manage timelines, and ensure the team delivers high-quality results.Talent Development: Provide mentorship and technical guidance to team members, fostering their professional growth.Performance Monitoring: Regularly evaluate project progress, identify areas for improvement, and make data-driven decisions.Team Building: Recruit and retain top-tier talent to build and maintain a high-performing engineering team.

To thrive in this role, you'll need a strong foundation in software engineering and a background in product development. The following skills are essential:

Technical Skills:

Ruby and Rails Expertise: Deep understanding of Ruby and Ruby on Rails, including best practices, design patterns, and performance optimization. Recent work experience of 3+ years.Experience with RSpec, Minitest, or other testing frameworks.Familiarity with Rails ecosystem gems (e.g., Devise, CanCanCan, Sidekiq).Full-Stack Proficiency: Proficiency in front-end technologies (JavaScript, HTML, CSS) and back-end development.Front-end development: Hands-on experience with any of Svelte/React/Vue.Serverless Tech stack: Like AWS lambdas, SNS, SQS, Step Functions.API Development: Experience with RESTful and GraphQL API design and implementation.Database Management: Strong knowledge of database systems like PostgreSQL and MySQL.Version Control: Proficiency in Git and other version control systems.Agile Development: Understanding of Agile methodologies and their application in software development.Cloud Platforms: Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS.Containerization: Experience with containerization technologies like Docker.CI/CD: Proficiency in CI/CD pipelines and tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI).Microservices: Knowledge of microservices architecture and its implementation.Background Jobs and Caching: Experience with background job processing and caching mechanisms.Web Security: Understanding of web security best practices.
