Job Description:

SLS operations manages all License Management as a Service (LMaaS) customers and other Advisory services and is a data analysis arm for Software License Solutions. All services performed require the SLS Operations Consultant to have a thorough understanding of the Oracle IT environment, including Oracle Applications, third party (or custom), and underlying system architecture. This also entails assisting the customers with execution of measurement scripts to obtain product usage data.

SLS Operations Consultant is responsible for all operations related activities such as Contract Management, Discovery & Data Collection, and Raw analysis of data collected through measurement scripts for Oracle’s Software Product portfolio such as Database/ Options, Middleware (WebLogic, SOA, BPM etc.) and Applications (E Business Suite, JD Edwards)

Responsibilities:

License Compliance Assessment:  Review and analyze Oracle software deployments and usage within client organizations to ensure compliance with Oracle's licensing terms and agreements. Identify any instances of over-licensing or under-licensing and provide recommendations for corrective actions. Data Collection and Analysis:  Collect relevant data regarding Oracle software installations, configurations, usage, and deployment across various environments. Analyze data to determine whether usage aligns with the terms of Oracle's licensing models and agreements. Engagement with Clients:  Communicate with client stakeholders, including IT managers, procurement teams, and legal departments, to gather information about software deployments and usage patterns. Educate clients on Oracle's licensing policies, models, and compliance requirements. Audit Planning and Execution:  Plan and execute software audits in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. Develop audit strategies to effectively assess Oracle software deployments and identify potential licensing violations. Documentation and Reporting:  Prepare comprehensive audit reports detailing findings, analysis, and recommendations for resolving licensing discrepancies. Document all audit procedures, data sources, and results in a clear and organized manner. License Optimization Recommendations:  Provide guidance to clients on optimizing their Oracle software deployments to align with licensing agreements, potentially resulting in cost savings. Suggest strategies for reallocating licenses, reducing unnecessary software installations, or leveraging virtualization technologies. Legal and Compliance Expertise:  Stay up to date with Oracle's licensing policies, agreements, and any changes to their software licensing models. Ensure that audit processes are in line with legal and regulatory requirements to avoid any legal disputes. Relationship Management:  Build and maintain professional relationships with client representatives, including IT teams, procurement professionals, and legal advisors. Foster a collaborative approach to addressing licensing compliance challenges. Technical Expertise:  Possess a deep understanding of Oracle software products, licensing models, and deployment technologies to accurately assess usage.

Skills required for this role:

A good understanding of software products, licensing models, and deployment options is essential to accurately assess usage and compliance. Good to have skills. Basic Knowledge of Oracle's licensing policies, agreements, and pricing models, including an ability to interpret complex licensing terms and conditions. Not a pre-requisite for the role. Proficiency in data collection, manipulation, and analysis using tools like Excel, SQL, and data visualization software to assess usage patterns and identify potential discrepancies. Effective communication is crucial for explaining complex licensing terms to non-technical stakeholders, managing client relationships, and preparing clear and concise audit reports. An understanding of IT infrastructure, software deployment architectures, and virtualization technologies to accurately assess software installations and usage. Meticulous attention to detail is required to identify potential licensing violations and discrepancies within complex software deployments. The ability to identify licensing challenges, analyze root causes, and propose practical solutions to resolve compliance issues. Strong project management skills to plan and execute audits effectively, manage multiple audits simultaneously, and meet deadlines. Efficiently managing audit schedules, data collection, analysis, and reporting within tight timelines. The ability to critically evaluate licensing scenarios, assess potential risks, and propose innovative solutions to address compliance challenges. Collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams such as legal, IT, and procurement to ensure comprehensive and accurate audit outcomes.
