Description:

TheUnix Administrator plays a crucial role in developing supportingand deploying stable and costeffective Unix environments. They areresponsible for the installation monitoring and maintenance of Unixand Linux operating systems and server hardware components.Automation is a key principle used by the Unix Administrator tostreamline standard tasks enabling the team to focus on engineeringhighperformance solutions.

KeyResponsibilities:

  • Architectand Deploy Unix Servers: Design and deploy Unix servers andoperating systems including server hardware virtualizationtechnologies and Unix/Linux operating systems both onpremises andin cloudbasedenvironments.
  • DevelopStandards and Automation: Develop and improve processing standardsprocedures and automation tools to enhance efficiency andscalability in a constantly evolvingenvironment.
  • TechnicalLeadership: Provide technical support and serve as a crossteamtechnical lead during system designs developments and deployments.Conduct deep troubleshooting in an advanced integratedenvironment.
  • VendorCoordination: Work closely with software vendors to coordinatethirdparty software installs and ensure compliance withorganizationalstandards.
  • Leadership andMentoring: Provide leadership and mentoring to junior staffassisting in the development of technical customer and projectmanagement skills.
  • ServiceImprovement: Monitor report and create service improvement plans tomeet client SLAs. Focus on improving operational efficiency andautomation to reducecosts.
  • SQL Knowledge:Utilize SQL for reporting and scriptingpurposes.

TechnicalSkills &Abilities:

  • Advancedknowledge of Linux and AIX operating systems and hardware includingmultiple architectures.
  • Cloud systemsengineering and deployment experience (TerraFormCloudInit).
  • Extensive experience withhypervisors and virtualization such as KVM PowerVM andPowerKVM.
  • Working experience in KubernetesDocker and Container technologies.
  • Workingexperience or understanding in KafkaELK/Splunk.
  • Experience with continuousintegration and continuous deployment technologies includingGIT/Jenkins pipelines.
  • Understanding andexperience in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and Infrastructureas Code.
  • Extensive knowledge of Storage AreaNetworks (SAN) based servers.
  • Experience withSAN Storage and Backup administration is aplus.
  • Working experience or understanding inusing CEPH storage.
  • Project managementexperience including driving projects involving multiple technicaland business teams.
  • Advanced knowledge ofmultiple scripting languages: Perl KSH Python required bashoptional.
  • Ability to balance and managecustomer needs daily responsibilities and projectssimultaneously.

EducationandExperience:

  • Bachelorsdegree or equivalent experience and/oreducation.
  • 5 to 8 years of relevant experiencerequired.
