We are looking for a Linux Security architect to join our Microsoft Defender for Endpoint Security Research team for Linux platform. This team is a global collection of security researchers, data scientists, advanced threat hunters, and agile malware responders, leading the charge in safeguarding against evolving security threats on Linux platforms.
From thwarting nation-state actors to tackling ransomware infections, our team applies extensive knowledge of attacker tactics and techniques to detect and counteract the most sophisticated adversaries. In this role, your work in understanding customer cybersecurity problems, data analysis, solution implementation, and your focus on cross-product collaboration will be integral to strengthening our customer defenses.

Qualifications
12+ years of professional computer security industry experience. Hands-on experience of reverse engineering, malware analysis forLinux Platform. Knowledge of Linux operating system internal and modern security problems. Development skills with C, C++ and/or scripting languages (e.g. Python, bash). Excellent cross-group and interpersonal skills. Degree in Computer Science or equivalent preferred.Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.
These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:
- This position will be required to pass the Microsoft background and Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Reverse Engineering skills on Linux: familiar with debuggers, disassemblers, network protocols, file formats, sandboxes, hardware/firmware internals, software communication mechanisms Knowledge of AV and EDR products for Linux. Experience in data analytics with a focus on security. Offensive security research experience on Linux.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with Linux research, PM, data science and engineering team to deliver solutions to customer challenges and innovative product capabilities. Conduct research that yields new insights, theories, analysis, data, algorithms, and prototypes that advance state-of-the-art of malware protection for Linux platform. Work with other internal and external teams to forge new and improve existing partnerships that help mature the product. Conduct deep malware research to showcase mind share and thought leadership by participating in security conferences.
