About theroleThis position will workwithin the Asset Management team which is responsible for thetechnical management of a growing portfolio of distributedgeneration projects located across the United States. This positionreports to the Sr. Director of Technical Asset Management. As asenior performance engineer in the renewable industry you will beresponsible for analyzing and interpreting data related to powerplant performance modeling and prediction. Your work will helpinform strategic decisionmaking and improve operational efficiencyin the industry. You will collaborate closely with engineers O andamp;M teams project managers software team and businessstakeholders to identify opportunities for datadriven insights andsolutions.PrimaryResponsibilities
  • Collectclean and analyze large data sets related to power plantperformance modeling and prediction.
  • Developpredictive models and algorithms to forecast power plantperformance and troubleshoot underperforming PV systems identifypotential component failures and modeling issues and recommendcorrective actions to meet guaranteed capacity and energyproduction targets.
  • Proficiency withphotovoltaic performance modeling tools such as PVsyst PVlib PythonNREL SAM and other PV software andmodels.
  • Proficiency in calculating differenttypes of plant and equipment loss such as but not limited tosoiling tracker temperature clipping inverter efficiency DC/ACwiring.
  • Proficiency in calculating KPIs such asavailability (e.g. plant inverter and tracker) performance ratioand energy performance index by usingalgorithms.
  • Assist data scientist and softwareteam in the development of programming code to automate internaland external reporting requirements andanalysis.
  • Collaborate with crossfunctionalteams to develop and implement datadriven solutions that improveoperational efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Workwith stakeholders to identify their requirements for data analysismodel development and performance optimization and work with theteam to deliver solutions that meet thoserequirements.
  • Communicate findings andrecommendations to technical and nontechnical stakeholders in aclear and concisemanner.
BasicQualifications
  • Mastersdegree in a relevant field such as computer science data sciencemath physics and/or engineering such as electrical and 5 years ofcombined experienced in performance engineering resource modeling(PVSyst) and data analytics.
  • Strongunderstanding of photovoltaic system modeling and simulationpreferably with experience using PVLib andPVsyst.
  • Two years of project managementexperience.
  • Experience with Python R and/orother programming skills
  • Experience in the useof business intelligence tools and other analytical tools (e.g.PowerBI Tableau Plotly Pandas NumPyMatplotlib)
  • Proven track record of SCADAanalysis of discrete event time series and plant performanceassessment preferred
  • Proficiency with databasequery language such as SQL
  • Strong quantitativeanalytic skills with advanced MS Excel modeling skills (inc. VBAand/or macros).
  • Experience with operationdesign and/or analysis of AC and DC electric powersystems.
  • Data mining
  • Strongcritical thinking skills and ability to work independently and aspart of a team.
  • Excellent communication andinterpersonalskills.
The idealcandidate willhave
  • Experienceworking in the power industry specifically in performance analysisand modeling in the PV solarindustry
  • Experience in conducting performanceevaluation of PV plant performance testing by using standards suchas ASTM and IEC.
  • Knowledge of SCADA and DAS(e.g. AlsoEnergy GPM Powerfactorsetc.)
  • Experience working in a cloud environment(e.g. AWS Azure).
  • Knowledge of machine learningalgorithms and statistical methods.
  • Databasemanagement skills preferred
  • Familiarity withCMMS systems preferred
  • PMP or other projectmanagementcertification
