Network Administrator – Engineering Operations Infrastructure

Calix is looking for a Network Administrator to join a high performing Product Operations and Engineering team. This team delivers infrastructure services supporting the development of next generation networking and SaaS products. The ideal candidate has deep experience with networking technologies, architectures, and support. The candidate will also have familiarity with virtualization, modern IT service management, DevOps, Agile methodology, product development lifecycle, and best practices.

This is a remote position that is based in Bangalore, India.

Role Description

The Network Engineer will be responsible to - design, implement, troubleshoot, analyze, and maintain network solutions aligned with business strategic goals. This role will play a critical piece to ensure that the product development functions for Calix are able to design, build, test and improve in a secure manner. You will interact with development staff and testing staff assisting in delivery of services in both test as well as secure development environments. You will assist in architecting networks that enable Calix to connect on-premises equipment and systems to our Cloud-based software as a service and enable new capabilities within our infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

  • Effective problem-solving skills engage project stakeholders in project planning and recognizes project impact on business strategy.
  • Guide business partner decision making and drive strategic architecture initiatives.
  • Identifies, diagnoses, and resolves network problems.
  • Maintain and support product engineering LAN/WAN environment.
  • Design, document and architect environments supporting product test and development.
  • Influence and manage interactions with technology vendors and align Calix business strategy.
  • Provide insights into network architectures that support product development and testing.
  • Configures, tests, and maintains LAN/WAN equipment and related services.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all implemented networks.
  • Develop test and project plans and timelines for various projects.
  • Write functional requirements/specifications documents.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualification & Skills:  

  • Hands-on experience implementing and managing network services for a large enterprise network.
  • 3-5 years’ experience directly administering switches, routers, firewalls, and other networking elements.
  • Mastery of TCP/IP stack for both IPv4 and IPv6
  • Strong understanding of encryption, protocols, SSL, packet inspection
  • Experienced with SPLUNK, or other log aggregation and analysis tools.
  • Experienced with Packet Capture/Wireshark
  • Familiar with Telecommunications equipment and standards
  • Cisco or Juniper Certifications.
  • Technologies: Palo Alto Next Generation Firewalls, Cisco / Juniper Switches, Windows Active Directory/LDAP, Network Virtualization, VSwitch, VNIC, NFV, etc.
  • In-person role located in Bangalore, India
  • Maximum Travel would be 10% based on business needs.
