Chief Engineer

Account Management – Work Dynamics (Country, Region)

What this job involves:

Prioritizing the facilities’ needs—always

A seasoned expert in the field, the Chief Engineer is on top of all the mechanical, electrical, plumbing and civil works needed in a facility. Likewise, you’ll play an essential function in reducing workplace-related risks by working on maintenance contracts, routine inspections and scheduled down times.

You will be in close contact with local authorities for all facility-related issues. Also part of your scope is to ensure that the facility is in total compliance with all legal and engineering standards. Likewise, you’ll spearhead the implementation of energy programs to cut utility cost.

You’ll assume the role of a senior facilities manager when needed—overseeing small renovation projects from initial phases to completion. You’ll also keep an eye out on the facilities’ engineering systems by periodically inspecting logbooks, checklists and maintenance schedules.

Putting critical plans and reports in place

Planning is a big part of your mandate. In this role, you’ll take charge of planning and managing both engineering and operational budgets and contracts. Your expertise will also be essential in planning and developing a list of spare materials for all installations based on recommendations and inventories.

Performing various audits—including technical, cost savings, risk management and energy management--is part of your job as well. In addition, you’ll strive to keep down time at bay by setting up best practices that promote seamless service delivery to our clients.

Your analytical skills will also come in handy, as the role requires you to file both weekly and monthly reports on maintenance contracts, incident reports, utility bills , energy savings , risk management and improvement projects.

You will have the empowerment to select the teams of your choice within the budgets provided to ensure consistent deliverables across the regions . Whilst managing critical environment at client site, the ability to influence and convince stakeholders on technical recommendations in quick turnarounds will be valuable to your personal success.

Years of industry experience

What we’re looking for is an electrical engineer with at least 20 years’ experience in the field. A post-graduate degree in engineering or business is also a big plus. Likewise, the ideal candidate will have more than five years’ experience in managing a contract of works and experienced in managing technical vendors/OEMs. Furthermore, a strong knowledge of occupational safety requirements, sustainability initiatives and improvement initiatives may help you land the job.

It is preferable to have had experience in managing engineering operations for multiple sites on a Pan India level with specific experience in managing UPS/HVAC/Data centres in the IT/ITES or BPO industry . Project management take over experience would be preferable too.

As the Chief Engineer, you’ll demonstrate your expertise in interacting with a wide range of clients and staff—that’s why impeccable people skills will be a handy talent. Likewise, you must show your aptitude in developing improvement initiatives. You must also display flexibility in managing daily activities using various systems. Must have impeccable verbal and written communication skills

You should be able to set an example to manage root cause analysis by getting into the depth of issues and working on the best solution to mitigate repetition. You will need to manage the client relationships and COE interactions to ensure the deliverables are met
