Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Independent Testing Specialist.
This role is in the Regulatory Reporting Incremental Compliance (RRIC) team within Independent Testing & Validation (IT&V). RRIC is a centralized team, operates as a second line of defense over the regulatory and risk report production processes subject to BCBS 239 requirements. The team is an integral part of the Company's control environment and provides credible challenge to relevant participants in the reporting processes. RRIC has enterprise-wide exposure to lines of business, regulatory and risk reporting stakeholders as well as the external financial reporting and regulatory reporting infrastructures and frequently coordinates with internal audit.
In this role, you will:
- Navigate large, complex technology environments to understand the flow of data from origination through to regulatory and risk reports
- Support the acquisition of data relevant to regulatory and risk reports through
- identification of systems facilitating reporting
- collaborating with business partners to obtain system access
- extracting data using SAS, SQL, or similar methods
- validating and formatting the data for analysis
- documenting procedures performed to acquire the data
- Partnering with team members to share information on the data received and collaborate on design strategies to analyze the data including creation of data subsets or calculated fields
- Performing advanced data analytics of regulatory and risk reporting data and assessing quality of relevant data and information reported.
- Partner with business partners to understand the data environment and related initiatives to develop appropriate and complementary data validation procedures
- Independently research issues relating to data integrity driving to root cause, including assessing impact to regulatory and risk reports, by applying a mix of data knowledge and business knowledge
- Developing an understanding of reporting requirements for relevant regulatory and risk reports.
- Supporting efforts to effectively identify risks to report production processes through testing.
- Documenting test results and any issues identified while also providing recommendations to management.
- Provide credible challenge to process owners as needed, acting as a change agent for continual improvement of the control environment.
- Present recommendations for resolving more complex situations and exercise independent judgment while developing expertise in risk management framework and the risk and control environment
- Lead or participate in moderate to high risk or complex review activities in a matrixed environment and communicate emerging risks to management within Independent Testing
- Contribute to large scale planning related to Independent Testing deliverables
- Review and research moderately complex potential corrective actions, and follow through on reporting, escalation, and resolution
- Ensure effective and appropriate testing, validation, and documentation of review activities for risk programs and controls according to standards and other applicable policies
- Resolve moderately complex issues and lead team to meet Independent Testing deliverables while leveraging solid understanding of risk management framework and the risk and control environment
- Collaborate and consult with colleagues, internal partners, management and lines of business regarding risk management
- The successful candidate will be a team player and a self-starter who is accustomed to working in complex organizations, partnering with a diverse group of stakeholders, and achieving results. Candidates with experience in preparing or reviewing regulatory returns including capital adequacy, liquidity coverage, recovery planning etc. are encouraged to apply.
- 4+ years of Independent Testing experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- Strong experience with SAS or SQL, or other data management, reporting and query tools
- Strong experience in regulatory reporting and risk management (includes compliance, financial crimes, operational risk, internal audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, business process management
- Experience in gathering, analyzing and interpreting large datasets
- Experience using SQL within SAS, and execute against other databases such as Oracle, Teradata and SQL Server
- Ability to interpret technical documents and system flows to translate into reporting requirements
- Good analytical skills including analyzing complex data
- Ability to gather, analyze, and interpret large datasets
- Good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to take on a high level of responsibility, initiative, and accountability
- Ability to develop partnerships and collaborate with other business and functional areas
- Good analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
