Your day at NTT DATA
Directs the activities of a software systems development function, software applications development function, and a software quality assurance function for software enhancements and new products including cloud-based or internet-related tools. The role of the Software Engineering/Architecture Management is accountable for managing a team of developers, engineers and/or architects by planning, directing and coordinating team activities to ensure that customer and business expectations are met. This role ensures that software engineering and architecture projects are delivered on time and within the agreed budget whilst meeting the required quality standards. They contribute to the development of standards, policies and procedures related to the function.
Key Role and Responsibilities:
Manage the activities of the software engineering/architecture team, setting goals to ensure timely project deliveryDevelop, plan, direct, coordinate and manage the processes related to software engineering/architecture initiatives and projectsConduct research and analysis, set objectives, establish budgets and guidelinesLiaise with internal and external partners to address issues and concerns, resolving them promptlyEnsure that the relevant procedures and processes are in place and followed throughout the software engineering/architecture lifecycleProvide input into and driving the architectural vision by translating product requirements into work items that the team can perform and ensures that the tasks are accomplishedAllocate resources and streamlining processes to ensure deliverables are met within the expected timelineProvide input into the design and execution of the software engineering/architecture lifecycle and assisting with the associated activities as and when requiredDetail quality assurance and automated testing requirements, processes and guidelinesRecommend guidelines on which technologies to leverage to enable scalable system architecture designsCommunicate regularly with product owners and working closely end users to translate the requirements to the teamDrive the execution of projects from conception to implementation, regularly reporting on project statusRespond to requests for proposals (RFP) with complete timelines, deliverables and budgetAssist with the documentation of release packages and ensuring the team has access to new releasesRemain up to date with current technologies and aware of upcoming and new technologiesInstil best practices for software engineering and architecture documentation, assuring designs meet requirements and delivers high qualityKnowledge, Skills and Attributes:
Knowledge of the regulatory, risk and compliance environment and requirementsKnowledge of programming languages, complex programming applications and troubleshootingknowledge of software development, engineering and architecture life cycle process and methodologiesIn-depth knowledge of Agile and Waterfall methodologiesFull grasp of all processes related to software including analysis, development, architecture, engineering, design, coding, system and user testing, problem resolution and planningKnowledge of build and release processes, environment management and source control managementKnowledge of people practices and processesAbility to build a cohesive team and to manage people effectively Ability to coach and develop the teamAn ability to balance and plan the short-term and long-term actions of the team The ability to manage time effectively while setting the tone of the team through modelling and leadership Ability to interact effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders by using their good collaboration and engagement skillsAcademic Qualifications and Certifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering or related fieldRelevant certifications requiredRequired Experience:
Previous experience in a corporate or consulting environment, acting in a technical lead capacityDemonstrated experience building, managing and leading software development, engineering and/or architecture teamsDemonstrated experience of dealing with relevant stakeholders, building strong relationships and negotiating with decision makers and influencersDemonstrated experience of delivering consultancy type projects, utilising Agile or Waterfall methodologiesSolid experience of IT in a complex business environment with the ability to translate technical concepts into business termsDemonstrated experience of negotiation or management of third-party servicesDemonstrated experience of developing and implementing relevant strategies in a multi supplier environment, managing third party services Has had previous people management responsibilities and/or allocation of resources within a department or project environmentWorkplace type:
