Job Overview


Full-time IB School College Counselor And University Placement with 7-10 years of experience in Bangalore Urban, Karnataka, India. The role involves providing guidance and support to students in college planning, applications, and university placements.


Qualifications and Skills


  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Counseling, Education, Psychology, or related field
  • Certification in college counselling and university placements is a must.
  • 5+ years of experience as a college counsellor in reputed IB or CAIE schools is mandatory
  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience in college counselling and university placement
  • In-depth knowledge of the IB curriculum and college admission requirements
  • Strong understanding of different university systems and admission processes globally
  • Experience in guiding students through college applications, SAT preparation, and essay writing
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to build strong relationships with students, parents, and university admission officers
  • Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse and multicultural environment
  • Proficient in using technology for college research and application management
  • Candidates currently residing in Bangalore will be preferred.


Roles and Responsibilities


  • Meets individually with student(s) and parents/to explore and identify appropriate college options. Communicate regularly with counselees.
  • Guides students and their parents/guardians through the college admissions and application process.
  • Serves as a general resource for students, parents, and teaching faculty regarding admission criteria and college data for leading global education destinations: USA, Canada, Australia, UK, Europe, Asia, Gulf regions
  • Helps students and others in understanding and utilizing Naviance and CIALFO, the college admission data management system. Provide guidance and resources and teach tools to navigate the college search and application process.
  • Prepares students to understand and fill Common App, UCAS, UC, OUAC etc. forms for college applications. Monitors individual student progress throughout the college application process.
  • Handles incoming inquiries and requests and prepares written responses to routine inquiries.
  • Educates students on appropriate interviewing techniques, self-assessment tools, and application essay writing techniques.
  • Follows up as appropriate via email, telephone, and/or Skype.
  • Understands the college admission process at a variety of institution types and selectivity levels.
  • Works effectively one-on-one with students and can address small or large gatherings of people to discuss the college admission and research process.
  • Works primarily with seniors during the fall and juniors during the spring, but also with freshmen and sophomores when appropriate.
  • Writes school recommendations for members of the senior class (detailed letters of support).
