We are looking for Crowd Artists with strong artistic abilities paired with solid technical foundations to join our team, working on exciting feature and episodic productions.

We are looking for artists with feature animation experience.

The crowd artist will be responsible for creating the motion of crowds in high-end animation and visual effects film environment. With exceptional crowds skills and strong organisational abilities, the Crowd Artist will work closely with the Crowds Supervisor, Animation Director, Studio Supervisors and Animation teams.

To achieve the highest quality possible within the parameters of production schedules and budgets, the Crowd Artist will need to both technically and creatively produce shots, be flexible, be able to trouble-shoot, and add creative value in all areas through development and design related to crowds.

  • Create digital crowd behaviours and simulations to achieve the look, movement, and style envisioned by the Director & Production.
  • Collaborate with peers to address creative and technical notes and propose creative approaches and solutions.
  • Collaborate and communicate with Crowds and CG Supervisors in order to implement efficient and effective ways to integrate crowd pipeline tools and techniques and problem solve issues in feature film development
  • Establish on-going communication with production and supervisors regarding schedules, deadlines, and shot/sequence feedback; attend all relevant meetings on shots and sequences.
  • Provide input towards the vision of the future direction of technology in maintaining a world-class Crowds pipeline.
  • Lead by example, foster a good working atmosphere and ethics

Requirements

  • Strong interest in Particle Systems, AI/Machine learning, or crowds systems
    (agent design, simulation, and behaviour).
  • Experience with Object Oriented programming such as C++ and experience with scripting languages such as Python. Experience in VEX coding in Houdini is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Graphics, Computer Science, Engineering, and related fields, or equivalent experience.
  • 2 – 5 years Crowds/Motion Experience in VFX Feature Film, TV, Animation or Game Production
  • Experience with MiArmy, Golaem, Houdini Crowds, or other crowd software packages (a plus)
  • Excellent understanding of rigging, motion capture, animation and in particular their relationship to Crowds.
