Description


Responsibilities:  

Overseeing the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of Azure & VMware's virtualization platform, which typically includes Azure VMs, storage accounts, Networking components etc. along with ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, and other related components. Creating, configuring, and managing virtual machines (VMs) to meet the needs of various users and applications within the organization. Implementing and managing VMs high availability features, vMotion and Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS), as well as configuring and testing disaster recovery plans. Continuously monitoring the health and performance of the virtual infrastructure, and promptly addressing any issues or bottlenecks that may arise. Developing and implementing scripts and workflows to automate repetitive tasks, improving efficiency and consistency in the management of the virtual infrastructure. Analyzing resource utilization trends and forecasting future resource requirements to ensure the virtual infrastructure can accommodate the organization's growth and evolving needs. Implementing and managing backup and restoration strategies for virtual machines and critical data to ensure business continuity in the event of data loss or system failures. Providing technical support and guidance to end-users, assisting with VM-related requests, and resolving any issues or concerns they may have. Ensuring the virtual environment adheres to organizational security policies, patching and regulatory requirements, such as access control, data protection, monitoring and logging. Collaborates with teammates to find productivity solutions.  Demonstrates willingness and ability to do what it takes to achieve objectives, including performing off-hours support tasks. 

Required Skills:   

Experience with Windows ADDS, O365, Azure Cloud, VMware, Exchange, Okta, MDM.  knowledge of productivity software offerings (Okta, Jira, Confluence, Zoom, etc.). Experience with cloud computing (Azure, VMware, Xen and AWS etc.). Knowledge of core networking concepts and technologies (i.e., IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, TCP/UDP, etc.)  Understanding of Jira and Confluence administration.  Knowledge of SSH concepts (remote command execution, password less SSH, setting up SSH on new machines).  Excellent attention to detail and strong documentation skills. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.  Exceptional problem-solving abilities. 

Education & Experience:   

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. Experience with at least one scripting language (PowerShell, Python, Perl, Bash, or Ruby).  4+ years of relevant experience.
