About the Role
You will join The India Prosperity Initiative as a Decision Scientist Intern, supporting research and analytical projects through data analysis, statistical modelling, visualisation, and data management. The role will involve working across the data lifecycle, from identifying and preparing relevant datasets to analysing data and translating findings into clear, actionable insights. You will work closely with project teams to support evidence-based research and contribute to high-quality analytical outputs across initiatives. ● Data Analysis, Statistical Modelling, and Predictive Analytics: You will work with structured and unstructured datasets to identify patterns, trends, relationships, and insights using statistical and machine learning techniques. You will support the development of analytical models, performance metrics, benchmarks, and predictive frameworks, while exploring emerging approaches in data science and statistical analysis. ● Data Preparation, Cleaning, and Validation: You will support the preparation of raw datasets into analysis-ready formats through systematic data cleaning, transformation, harmonisation, and organisation. You will conduct data quality checks to identify inconsistencies, missing values, errors, and anomalies and ensure the reliability of analytical outputs. ● Data Visualisation and Dashboards: You will develop charts, visualisations, and dashboards to communicate complex analytical findings clearly and effectively. You will work with tools such as Python, R, Excel, Tableau, and Power BI to present data and analytical results in an accessible manner. ● Economic and Socio-Economic Data Analysis: You will work with economic, demographic, social, and other datasets to support research on issues relevant to India’s development and prosperity. This will involve understanding key indicators, identifying credible data sources, analysing multi-year and cross-regional datasets, and interpreting findings in their broader context. ● Data Tools and Database Management: You will use tools such as Python, R, MS Excel / Google Sheets, and SQL for data analysis and management. You will support the retrieval, organisation, updating, and analysis of datasets from multiple sources. Familiarity with databases and structured data systems will be an advantage. ● Research Support and Documentation: You will support project teams in developing analytical frameworks, conducting quantitative analysis, and preparing research outputs. You will maintain clear documentation of datasets, methodologies, analytical approaches, and sources to support transparency and reproducibility. ● Collaboration and Learning: You will work closely with researchers and project teams to understand analytical requirements, communicate findings, and contribute to project deliverables. The role will provide an opportunity to apply data science skills to real-world challenges affecting India’s development while building an understanding of how quantitative evidence can inform better decisions. This role is well-suited for a student or early-career candidate with a strong interest in data science, statistics, and applied research. It is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with data and are motivated to apply analytical skills to real-world challenges that contribute to India’s long-term prosperity and development. 3.
