Purpose of the Position :
The role exists to build and strengthen in-house structural (Ansys) and crash (LS-Dyna) simulation capability for EV powertrain systems — primarily HV Battery packs, e-Drives and Xin1 units — and to develop automation of pre-/post-processing and report generation that supports faster concept-to-validation cycles for the Simulation team.
Personal Profile :
Education - B-Tech/M-Tech in Mechanical/Mechanics/Structural/FEM/Automotive
Relevant Experience :
1. 3–6 years' experience in structural and/or crash simulation of automotive/EV systems, preferably HV battery, e-drive, or vehicle body/chassis crash & safety.
2. Hands-on working experience of LS-Dyna for crash/impact (explicit dynamics) simulation — exposure to HV battery mechanical shock, crush, or crash load cases is a strong advantage.
3. Strong proficiency in Ansys for structural simulation (static strength, modal, vibration, fatigue) of EV powertrain components.
4. Solid skills in FE modelling techniques, including pre- and post-processing (Hypermesh/ANSA or equivalent) for both implicit and explicit analysis.
5. Working knowledge of Python (or equivalent scripting) for automation of pre-processing, post-processing and report generation workflows.
6. Good grounding in core engineering fundamentals — strength of materials, structural mechanics, vibration, and fatigue and impact dynamics— along with analytical and numerical calculation methods for first-principles based sizing and validation.
7. Exposure to EV powertrain aggregates (HV battery packs, e-drives) and automotive product development processes is highly desirable.
8. Familiarity with CAD tools (Creo/CATIA) for interpreting and reviewing design geometry.
9. Proficiency with statistics/data analysis is a plus, for supporting KPI-based structural/analytical automation.
10. A detail-oriented personality with solid documentation and reporting skills.
11. Strong team player with good communication skills, comfortable working directly with cross-functional teams and suppliers.
12. Self-driven with an automation and continuous-improvement mindset — keen to build scripts/tools that streamline recurring simulation, calculation and reporting tasks
Key Responsibility & Key Tasks :
Structural & crash simulation delivery -
• Perform in-house structural simulation of EV powertrain components in Ansys as per product structural requirements.
• Perform / support HV Battery crash and mechanical shock simulation in LS-Dyna in line with applicable GB/AIS/ECE/IEC standards.
• Support monitoring and review of structural simulations performed at supplier's end.
• Participate in design reviews and change control from a structural/crash perspective.
Automation & tools development -
• Develop and maintain Python-based automation scripts for pre-processing (model/mesh setup) and post-processing (result extraction, plotting, KPI checks) of Ansys and LS-Dyna simulations.
• Automate structural/crash simulation report generation, including management presentations and technical documentation.
• Support enhancement of the concept design automation frameworks, including analytical and numerical calculation modules integrated with Python.
• Build and maintain simulation data libraries (e.g. cell library, material library) to support automation workflows.
Cross-functional collaboration & technical support -
● Support DFMEA and PFMEA structural inputs.
● Assist the Simulation Lead in preparing technical decks and documentation for internal and management reviews.
● Complete other structural/crash simulation related tasks in accordance with project needs.
