Overview
Build the next generation of ArcGIS Enterprise, a suite of products delivering state-of-the-art mapping and analytics capability to thousands of enterprise organizations and millions of users worldwide. Our team builds cutting-edge, highly scalable, and fault-tolerant distributed software for on-premises and cloud environments.
We are seeking a Software Engineer specialized in Test Automation Infrastructure to drive automated quality engineering for ArcGIS Enterprise across all our supported platforms. In this role, you will not simply execute test plans - you will write the software, frameworks, and DevOps pipelines that continuously validate complex multi-node systems, APIs, and high-throughput data workflows.
Responsibilities
- Framework Engineering: Architect, design, and implement scalable, reusable automated test frameworks from scratch in Python, Java, C++, or C# to validate functional, performance, scalability, and durability metrics
- DevOps & CI/CD Pipeline Automation: Build, optimize, and maintain continuous integration pipelines (using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Chef, and more) to deploy, schedule, and execute automated test suites daily against supported graph DBMS platforms and cloud deployments
- API & System Integration: Author robust, code-level automated integration test suites targeting REST, gRPC, and native system APIs to validate Knowledge Graph queries, link analysis algorithms, and complex backend workflows to validate system’s GIS and readiness capabilities
- Test Infrastructure & Dashboards: Design and maintain reporting infrastructure, automated telemetry tools, and visual execution dashboards (such as Grafana, custom web UI) to deliver immediate visibility into build quality, performance regression, and code coverage
- Software Engineering Standards: Perform rigorous peer reviews of test code, apply object-oriented design patterns, and continuously refactor test codebases to maintain high developer standards
- Architectural Collaboration: Partner directly with Core Software Developers and Product Engineers to evaluate system architecture, identify edge cases, establish code coverage standards, and eliminate manual testing bottlenecks
Requirements
- Programming Mastery: 4+ years of professional software development (SDET or Automation Engineering) experience using Python, Java, C++, or C#
- Software Design: Strong proficiency in object-oriented programming (OOP) principles, design patterns, and clean code authoring
- Framework Authoring: Proven track record of building, extending, and maintaining test automation frameworks from scratch using PyTest, JUnit, TestNG, or custom tools rather than solely running pre-existing scripts
- DevOps & CI/CD Tooling: Hands-on experience creating, configuring, and scheduling automated pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Docker, or Chef
- API & Database Testing: Strong proficiency in code-level API testing (REST/gRPC) and working with relational, graph, or NoSQL database management systems
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, GIS, Information Technology, or a related technical field
Recommended Qualifications
- Education: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related quantitative discipline
- Distributed Systems: Experience validating multi-node distributed systems, microservices, or cloud-native infrastructure (AWS/Azure)
- GIS / Domain Knowledge: Familiarity with ArcGIS Enterprise, spatial analytics, or graph database architectures
- Telemetry & Analytics: Experience generating graphical test telemetry, metrics collection, and live reporting dashboards
