Project Manager - Power EvacuationPosition OverviewWe are looking for a highly experienced and technically proficient Project Manager - Power Evacuation to lead the design coordination, construction, and commissioning of power evacuation infrastructure for our utility-scale renewable energy projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience in managing switchyard construction, transmission line execution, and grid connectivity from concept to commissioning, ensuring seamless integration with solar generation assets.Key Responsibilities Project Planning & Execution Own end-to-end responsibility for execution of power evacuation systems, including substations (AIS/GIS), bays, and transmission lines up to 220 kV and above.Review and finalize scope, design interfaces, and execution strategy in alignment with engineering, procurement and project planning teams.Prepare detailed execution plans (L1 to L3 schedules), aligning with project timelines, resource availability, and risk assessment.2. Vendor & Contractor ManagementLead evaluation of EPC/turnkey contractors for evacuation infrastructure.Monitor contractor performance across scope, schedule, quality, and safety KPIs.Ensure timely delivery of A-class OEM equipment and critical components, coordinating closely with SCM and logistics.3. Construction SupervisionDirect site-level construction activities including civil, electrical, and structural works for substations, bays, and transmission lines.Conduct daily and weekly progress reviews with internal teams and contractors to ensure milestone adherence.Ensure quality of execution in accordance with technical standards, OEM specifications, and project requirements.4. Testing & CommissioningManage all testing and commissioning activities of HV equipment including CT/PT, breakers, isolators, protection systems, SCADA, and grid interfacing.Oversee grid synchronization protocols, SOP compliance, and commissioning documentation in collaboration with internal QA/QC and external consultants.Drive grid compliance testing including PFR, AVR, Reactive Power Capability, Voltage Ride Through, and Harmonics in line with CEA/CERC norms.5. Risk, Cost & Performance ManagementIdentify critical risks across project phases and implement mitigation plans to avoid execution delays or interface mismatches.Monitor budgets and cost exposure related to evacuation infrastructure, highlighting deviations and optimizing resources.Maintain project KPIs for execution, safety, and performance-ensuring targets are met or exceeded.Required Skills & CompetenciesStrong command over AIS/GIS substation and transmission line construction methodologiesExpert in project commissioning protocols, grid compliance testing, and performance validationHigh proficiency in interpreting technical drawings, layouts, and single-line diagramsDemonstrated ability to manage multi-site contractors and multidisciplinary teamsStrong leadership, problem-solving, and interpersonal communication skillsQualificationsB.E./B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering (Mandatory)15+ years of experience in power evacuation for renewable/utility-scale projectsProven track record of delivering projects of 200+ MW capacity including evacuation infrastructureFamiliarity with Indian grid codes, CEA/CERC guidelines, and site safety practicesHands-on experience in dealing with OEMs for GIS, protection relays, SCADA, and substation automation systemsPrior experience in executing 132/220 kV substations and 100+ km transmission line projectsLocation: Pune, MaharashtraIndustry: Renewable Energy - IPP (Utility-Scale Solar)Function: Project ExecutionReporting To: Head - ProjectsBusiness Unit: GBU Renewables & Flexible Power Division: REN AMEA - India Legal Entity: ENGIE Energy India Private Limited Professional Experience: Skilled ( >3 experience
