As a provider of multi-discipline technical services, AtkinsRéalis is committed to design excellence and delivery of excellent solutions which combine innovation, imagination, and best practice.We currently have an opportunity for either an SLRM - Waste - Environment Consultant II / Senior Consultant (depending on level of experience) to join the AtkinsRéalis Global Technology Centre in Mumbai, India. The work involves significant work on UK and International projects being delivered by the AtkinsRéalis UK Sustainable Land and Resource Management practice across a range of market sectors like Highways, Rails, Tunnels, including the development of Cities, Mass Transit and Energy infrastructure. We are looking for an individual ideally with knowledge and experience of Environmental Site Assessments and Investigation, chemical assessment and quantitative risk assessment relating to land contamination, waste and brownfield regeneration, to join our reputable Environment team and support an expanding project workload and client base.Mandatory Requirements5+ years' experience in conducting Phase I Site Assessment and Phase 2 intrusive Site Investigation, with experience in multiple site investigation techniques.Post Graduate Degree qualified in a relevant engineering or science subject (e.g. geology, geosciences, chemistry, environmental science and hydrogeology).Demonstrate good, relevant land contamination/brownfield land experience in Phase 1 Desk Studies.Knowledge and technical understanding of conceptual site models and generic level risk assessments for soils and waters. Experience working for global regions will be preferable either in an excellence centre or in the region.Proficient ability to interpret, review and analyse large and complex soil data.Experience of producing well written factual and interpretative reports.Good communication and presentation skills.Understanding of Indian environmental regulations.Ability to take initiative and work independently or within a teamWillingness to learn and adapt to the project/team/wider teamDesirable Requirements:Knowledge / experience in soil waste management/waste handling/waste remediation is an advantage.Field work experience would be an advance but not essential.Knowledge and technical understanding of conceptual site models and generic level risk assessments for controlled waters (in the UK, surface water and groundwater) and human health risk assessments (CLEA tool) and using Soil Guideline Values (Environment Agency, UK).Industry standards CIRIA, 2001. Contaminated land risk assessment. A guide to good practice (C552), and have broad understanding of DEFRA, 2012. Environmental Protection Act 1990: Part 2A, Contaminated Land Statutory Guidance.CL:AIRE and CIRIA guidance for Asbestos, Petroleum Hydrocarbons in Groundwater and C4SLs.Codes of practice for ground investigations and potentially contaminated sites.Knowledge of groundwater modelling software ConSim/P20 would be an advantage Rewards and Benefits Competitive in the industry.Primary ResponsibilitiesWork primarily with soils materials and waste specialists in the UK to undertake project specific waste classification requirements.Training to undertake waste classification and gain better understanding of the tasks and tools involved.
