Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced AS400 Specialist with strong expertise in Integration, VisionPLUS COBOL, and IBM iSeries technologies. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, enhancing, and maintaining AS400-based applications, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and delivering high-quality technical solutions that meet business needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Communicate the business value of technical solutions and design decisions to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated solutions, including data conversions and migrations.
  • Develop and support applications using RPGLE, RPG/400, COBOL-400, SQLRPGLE, Free-Format RPG, and IBM iSeries (AS/400) V7R3.
  • Work with Change Management tools (Turnover) and manage AS400 IFS (Integrated File System).
  • Analyze enhancement requests from business users and propose feasible technical solutions.
  • Conduct development activities—including coding, testing, debugging, and deploying applications—following best software development practices.
  • Work closely with business teams to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Develop and maintain system documentation for all applications and programs.
  • Monitor application and system performance to ensure efficiency and compliance with specifications.
  • Investigate, analyze, and resolve system issues involving databases, integrations, and AS400 applications.
  • Research emerging technologies to continuously improve application functionality and performance.
  • Acquire business knowledge relevant to supported systems and applications.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 8–12 years of hands-on experience with AS/400 architecture and IBM iSeries development.
  • Strong expertise in RPGLE, RPG IV (RPG/ILE), COBOL-400, CL, DB2/400, and SQLRPGLE.
  • Experience with VisionPLUS COBOL platform and integration with external systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of Turnover change management tool.
  • Experience with data conversions, migrations, and cross-system integrations.
  • Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
  • Solid understanding of enterprise-level application development and maintenance.
  • Ability to create, maintain, and update technical documentation.
