Key Responsibilities
1. Compliance & Regulatory Management
- Ensure full compliance with local, state, and federal environmental and safety regulations.
- Lead audits, inspections, and certifications such as ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and Responsible Care.
- Maintain all mandatory documentation, permits, and licenses related to hazardous chemicals, waste management, and emissions.
2. Safety Management
- Develop and implement site-wide safety programs, SOPs, and safe work practices.
- Oversee incident investigations, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and transportation of hazardous chemicals.
- Lead emergency preparedness and response planning, including mock drills.
3. Environmental Management
- Monitor and manage waste disposal, wastewater treatment, emissions, and environmental impact reduction initiatives.
- Implement pollution prevention and resource optimization programs.
- Ensure proper operation and compliance of environmental control systems.
4. Occupational Health
- Implement and monitor occupational health programs including employee exposure monitoring, PPE compliance, and periodic medical checks.
- Oversee industrial hygiene assessments and maintain relevant health records.
5. Risk Assessment & Safety Culture
- Conduct hazard assessments (HAZOP, JSA, HIRA) and risk mitigation planning.
- Promote a safety-first culture through employee engagement, training, and awareness programs.
- Ensure contractor and visitor safety management.
6. Leadership & Strategy
- Provide strategic guidance to management on EHS risks and improvements.
- Lead and mentor the EHS team at the plant.
- Drive continuous improvement through periodic reviews and performance metrics.
