Solar Technician – Job Description

Position Overview:

A Solar Technician installs, maintains, and repairs solar photovoltaic (PV) systems for residential, commercial, or industrial clients. This role combines electrical knowledge, physical labor, troubleshooting skills, and adherence to safety standards to ensure reliable and efficient solar energy production.

Key Responsibilities

• Install solar PV systems, including panels, mounting hardware, wiring, inverters, and monitoring equipment.
• Conduct site assessments to evaluate roof structures, electrical systems, and optimal panel placement.
• Perform system inspections, testing, and troubleshooting to identify and resolve operational issues.
• Maintain, repair, and upgrade existing solar PV systems.
• Ensure all installations comply with local, state, and national electrical codes (e.g., NEC).
• Work with project managers, electricians, and other team members to complete installations on schedule.
• Document work performed, system performance data, and maintenance reports.
• Educate customers on system operation and basic maintenance.
• Adhere to strict safety protocols and use PPE at all times.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical or electrical training preferred.
• Experience in solar PV installation, roofing, or electrical work (varies by employer).
• Familiarity with electrical wiring, conduit bending, and hand/power tools.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and installation manuals.
• Comfort working at heights, on roofs, in confined spaces, and in outdoor environments.
• Basic understanding of solar energy principles and electrical systems.

Preferred Certifications (Optional but Advantageous)

• NABCEP PV Associate or PV Installation Professional
• OSHA 10/30 certification
• State-specific electrical licenses or apprenticeship experience

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹10, ₹20,000.00 per month
