Key responsibilities

  • Cost management: Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, and cost forecasts for projects.
  • Contract administration: Develop and manage contracts, including tender packages and BOQ
  • Financial tracking: Monitor project costs, process invoices, and ensure projects stay within budget.
  • Negotiation: Negotiate with clients, contractors, and suppliers to secure favorable prices.
  • Risk management: Identify commercial risks, perform risk analysis, and advise on claims and disputes.
  • Procurement: Oversee material sourcing and resource planning.
  • Compliance: Ensure projects comply with legal, quality, and safety standards.
  • Reporting: Provide regular financial reports and progress updates to management.
  • Site visits: Conduct site visits to monitor progress, gather information, and assess work completed.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Successful QS Engineers typically possess a combination of technical and soft skills:
  • Education: A bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is typically required.
  • Technical Skills: Strong analytical and numerical skills, proficiency in cost estimation and project management software (e.g., MS Excel, AutoCAD, Primavera, CostX ), and knowledge of construction methods and materials.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills are crucial for liaising with diverse stakeholders, from clients and architects to site managers.
