Job Description

Vernure is seeking a skilled, detail-driven
WordPress Developer who can build websites from scratch
, not just install themes and plugins. You'll work closely with designers and project teams to create high-performance, visually polished, and user-focused websites that align with our strategic, quality-first approach. This role requires strong ownership, clean coding, and the ability to deliver websites that are structurally sound, scalable, and optimised for performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain responsive, functional websites using WordPress
  • Build websites from the
    ground up using Wordpress builders
    like elementor/divi (if required, to use HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP)
  • Develop and customise WordPress layout without relying on pre-built templates
  • Convert Figma designs into accurate, pixel-aligned WordPress builds
  • Create custom plugins or feature components when needed
  • Ensure websites are fast, secure, SEO-friendly, and optimised for performance
  • Troubleshoot and debug issues without depending on "plugin stacking"
  • Collaborate with designers, content teams, and project managers to deliver high-quality outputs
  • Write clean, structured, maintainable code/layouts with proper documentation

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong proficiency in builders like elementor/divi and HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and responsive design principles
  • Solid understanding of PHP, MySQL, and WordPress core architecture
  • Proven ability to build custom WordPress themes/layouts and functional components
  • Experience integrating APIs and handling backend interactions
  • Understanding of web design fundamentals and UI/UX alignment
  • Familiarity with SEO best practices and performance optimisation
  • Strong troubleshooting abilities and attention to detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a structured development workflow
  • Optional: Degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or equivalent practical experience - skills matter most more than the degree

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Wix, Webflow, Framer, Dora, or similar CMS platforms
  • Understanding of CI/CD, hosting environments, and deployment workflows
  • Experience with advanced page animations or interactive front-end components
    without compromising page speeds
  • Familiarity with Agile development practices
