Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive SME Portfolio Manager to manage and oversee the portfolio of small and medium enterprise (SME) clients. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assessing credit risk, managing relationships, monitoring portfolio performance, and ensuring growth and profitability while minimizing risks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and monitor the SME loan portfolio to ensure credit quality and asset performance.
  • Analyze financial statements, credit reports, and other relevant data to assess the creditworthiness of SME clients.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with SME clients to understand their business needs and offer tailored financial solutions.
  • Work closely with sales and credit teams to originate and structure loans consistent with risk appetite and policies.
  • Identify portfolio risks and take proactive measures to mitigate potential defaults.
  • Monitor portfolio trends and provide regular reports on portfolio performance, delinquency rates, and recovery efforts.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to resolve portfolio issues and implement recovery strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies related to SME lending.
  • Support business development efforts by identifying cross-selling opportunities within the SME segment.
  • Stay updated on market trends, industry developments, and competitor activities in the SME sector.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field. MBA or relevant certifications (e.g., CFA, FRM) preferred.
  • Proven experience (typically 3-5 years) in SME portfolio management, credit analysis, or relationship management in banking or financial services.
  • Strong understanding of SME business models, financial statements, and credit risk assessment.
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with portfolio management and credit analysis tools.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with clients and internal teams.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to SME lending.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with loan recovery and restructuring.
  • Familiarity with digital lending platforms and fintech solutions for SMEs.
  • Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to interpret and apply banking regulations and compliance standards
