Java/OTN Developer

Job Summary :We are seeking a skilled and experienced Java + OTN Developer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing Java-based applications that interact with and manage Optical Transport Network (OTN) systems. You will collaborate with network engineers, system architects, and other developers to build robust and efficient telecommunications solutions.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in Java development and a solid understanding of OTN technologies and protocols. Responsibilities :Java Application Development :

• Design, develop, and maintain Java-based applications for OTN management and control.
• Implement robust and scalable software solutions that interact with OTN network elements.
• Develop and integrate APIs for OTN system management and data retrieval.
• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code.
• Perform unit, integration, and system testing to ensure application quality.

OTN System Integration :

• Develop and implement software interfaces for OTN network elements and management systems.
• Integrate Java applications with OTN control plane protocols (e.g, GMPLS, ASON).
• Work with OTN hardware vendors to ensure seamless integration and interoperability.
• Develop software tools for OTN network configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting.

Network Protocol Implementation :

• Implement and maintain network protocols related to OTN (e.g, G.709, G.872).
• Develop software modules for handling OTN signaling and management information.
• Collaborate with network engineers to ensure protocol compliance and interoperability.

Performance Optimization :

• Optimize Java applications for high performance and low latency in OTN environments.
• Implement efficient algorithms and data structures for network management tasks.
• Analyze and troubleshoot performance bottlenecks in OTN applications.
• Develop and implement monitoring tools for OTN network performance.

Collaboration and Communication :

• Collaborate with network engineers, system architects, and other developers to define requirements and design solutions.
• Communicate technical concepts clearly and concisely.
• Participate in Agile development processes.
• Contribute to team knowledge sharing and best practices.

Documentation :

• Create and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, API documentation, and user guides.
• Document code changes and updates.
• Maintain accurate records of application development.

Continuous Learning :

• Stay up-to-date with the latest Java technologies and OTN standards.
• Research and evaluate new tools and technologies.
• Participate in training and professional development activities.

Qualifications :Education :

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related field.

Experience :

• 4 years of experience in Java development.
• Proven experience in developing applications for telecommunications networks.
• Experience with OTN technologies and protocols.
• Experience with network management systems.

Technical Skills :

• Strong proficiency in Java programming.
• Expertise in developing network applications.
• Strong understanding of OTN technologies and protocols (e.g, G.709, G.872, GMPLS, ASON).
• Experience with network management protocols (e.g, SNMP, TL1).
• Knowledge of database management and SQL.
• Familiarity with network simulation and testing tools.
• Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC).
