Director, Core Infrastructure

As a Director in Infrastructure & Operations within our Product Operating Model (POM), you'll lead Mumbai platform teams delivering GCP compute, core networking, and foundational services that every product portfolio depends on—reducing handoffs, increasing speed, and building in quality at scale.

In this role you will get to:

• Lead Mumbai execution for our GCP compute platform: multi‑region GKE clusters and GCE fleets, autoscaling and capacity planning, hardened images/patch pipelines, upgrades, SLOs, and production runbooks.
• Drive Cloud Development enablement: define reusable Terraform modules, standardize GitHub Actions workflows, and operate GitOps (FluxCD) for infra and cluster resources; enforce PR‑based change management and drift detection for safe, auditable infra changes.
• Own platform Networking scope in partnership with the global team: VPC architecture and subnetting, firewall policies, routing, private service access, secure ingress/egress via Google load balancers, and resilient hybrid connectivity (cloud‑to‑cloud and on‑prem) aligned to enterprise standards.
• Operate core shared infra services that underpin platform workloads (e.g., DNS, NTP, backups/recovery orchestration, SMTP/SFTP) and their integrations with compute and network primitives.
• Database scope: coordinate with the DBA platform for provisioning/operations of managed services (e.g., Cloud SQL, AlloyDB, Spanner, Redis, MongoDB Atlas, Cassandra) used by platform and product teams; set readiness and escalation contracts to meet availability and recovery objectives.
• Partner with SRE, SRO, and Developer Platform to embed reliability by design: production‑readiness, runbooks, canary/rollback patterns, incident/change interfaces, and observability hooks for platform components in Mumbai.
• Improve platform outcomes for your scope: availability/SLO attainment, MTTR for infra incidents, change failure rate, adoption of golden paths/modules, cycle time for infra changes, and cloud efficiency for GKE/GCE and network/data services.
• Lead 3-4 managers/leads and their teams in Mumbai; hire, coach, and develop talent, reinforcing values‑aligned leadership and an inclusive, high‑accountability culture.

Who you are:

• 12+ years in infrastructure/platform engineering with 3+ years managing managers/leads; deep experience operating GCP (GKE/GCE) and modern cloud operating models.
• Hands‑on depth in Terraform, GitHub Actions, FluxCD/GitOps, Kubernetes lifecycle (cluster and node pool design, autoscaling, upgrades, spot/cost strategies), and GCP IAM/guardrails.
• Proven history of productizing platform capabilities—"golden paths," standards, reusable modules—with adoption KPIs to reduce cognitive load and improve developer throughput.
• Strong stakeholder communication and follow‑the‑sun coordination with SRE/SRO/Dev Platform and Network/DBA counterparts, delivering predictably within the POM.

Nice to have:

• GCP networking depth (VPCs, firewalls, gateways, private service access), Google load balancers (GCLB/GALB), and service‑mesh/API gateway patterns; familiarity with observability stacks (New Relic, Splunk, ClickHouse).
• Experience with policy controls (e.g., OPA/Gatekeeper), artifact/secrets management, and cloud cost/FinOps for container and compute platforms.

Priceline is following a hybrid working model, which includes two days onsite as determined by you and your manager (ideally selecting among Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday). On the remaining days, you can choose to be remote or in the office.
