Why This Role Matters

We are partnering with an AI Stealth Company (Code Name: SYNC)—a next-generation platform focused on building intelligent systems that organise, index, and retrieve enterprise knowledge to power modern AI Agents.

SYNC is setting up its new India Global Capability Centre (GCC), and this CTO role operates at the parent level, influencing both product strategy and engineering foundations from Day 0.

Joining now means becoming part of the founding engineering leadership, shaping SYNC's technical direction, talent strategy, and engineering culture during a true zero-to-one phase.


Role Overview

The CTO will drive the architecture, engineering roadmap, and technical execution across two major product tracks:

1. AI Knowledge Platform (Flagship Product)

  • You will lead the development of a platform that:
  • Ingests structured + unstructured enterprise data
  • Builds and maintains a knowledge graph
  • Enables semantic search, vector retrieval, and RAG
  • Powers AI agents with rich contextual understanding
  • Operates securely and efficiently at enterprise, multi-tenant scale

2. Connectors & Systems Integrations

Own the design of SYNC's connector ecosystem:

  • CRM, ITSM, CCaaS integrations
  • Connectors to data lakes & internal enterprise systems
  • Event-driven and API-based integration frameworks
  • Low-latency, reliable enterprise adapters

Not in Scope Immediately:

  • Legacy CTI/Softphone products (will be staffed separately)

What You Will Build

AI & Retrieval Infrastructure

  • Knowledge graph systems: Neo4j, Neptune, Weaviate, ArangoDB
  • Vector search: Pinecone, Chroma, Weaviate
  • Multi-LLM RAG pipelines with fallback strategies
  • Document ingestion, enrichment, metadata processing
  • Ranking, retrieval, and semantic search pipelines Core Engineering Foundations
  • Build two engineering pods from scratch (0 → 20+ engineers)
  • Define architecture, technical roadmap, and review practices
  • Implement secure enterprise-grade engineering (authN/Z, data governance)
  • Establish CI/CD, observability, and infrastructure automation
  • Build a high-velocity, high-quality engineering culture

What You Bring

Technical Strength

  • 10–15 years in backend, platform, ML, or IR/search engineering

Hands-on depth in:

  • Enterprise search/information retrieval
  • Knowledge graphs
  • Vector DBs & embeddings
  • NLP / document AI pipelines
  • RAG systems
  • Distributed systems & high-scale SaaS
  • Strong architectural and coding skills (hands-on leader), Leadership
  • Built or scaled early-stage engineering teams (0→1 or 1→N)
  • Ability to hire, mentor and define engineering standards
  • High ownership, fast execution, and clarity in decision-making
  • Comfortable working closely with founders in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Industry Background

Experience working in:

  • Enterprise search, knowledge systems, LLM/NLP platforms, or connectors/integration ecosystems.

First 12 Months – Success

Indicators

  • Deliver alpha of the SYNC AI Knowledge Platform (ingest → index → RAG)
  • Establish the full architecture for SYNC Knowledge + SYNC Connectors
  • Build and scale the initial engineering pods for the new India GCC
  • Define engineering culture, velocity norms, and quality guardrails
  • Release robust, enterprise-ready connectors for initial customer systems
