Staff Accountant

Job Title: Staff Accountant

Department: Accounting

Reports To: Lead Accountant

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly motivated Staff Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for a variety of accounting functions, playing a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy of financial records and supporting the overall financial health of the company. This position requires an understanding of accounting principles, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Expense Review and Approval: Review and process employee expense reports, ensuring compliance with company policies and accurate coding.
  • Timesheet Compliance: Monitor and ensure timely and accurate submission of employee timesheets, verifying adherence to company guidelines.
  • Accounts Payable: Manage the full cycle of accounts payable, including receiving, processing, verifying, and reconciling invoices, and preparing payments.
  • Customer Invoicing: Prepare and issue accurate and timely customer invoices, collaborating with the lead accountant and project teams to ensure proper billing.
  • Revenue Recognition: Assist with the accurate recognition of revenue in accordance with GAAP.
  • Accounts Receivable: Monitor accounts receivable, follow up on outstanding invoices, and apply customer payments accurately.
  • Month-End Closing Support: Provide support for the monthly financial close process.
  • Company Compliance Filings: Assist with the preparation and submission of various compliance filings, such as sales tax and other regulatory reports.
  • Miscellaneous Tasks: Perform other accounting, financial, or administrative tasks as assigned to support the accounting department and company operations.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience: 2-3 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Technical Skills:

oProficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle NetSuite, Unanet).

oStrong Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas).

  • Soft Skills:

oExcellent attention to detail and accuracy.

oStrong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

oExceptional organizational and time management skills.

oAbility to work independently and as part of a team.

oEffective verbal and written communication skills.
