We are seeking an experienced lab instructor with expertise to manage and conduct practical sessions for fluid mechanics, soil mechanics, and highway engineering laboratories.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lab Operations & Management:

  2. Organize and maintain civil engineering lab facilities, including setting up equipment and materials for practical sessions.

  3. Ensure the lab is well-stocked with necessary tools, consumables, and safety gear.

  4. Keep the lab environment clean, safe, and compliant with institutional and regulatory standards.

  5. Student Mentoring & Experimentation:

  6. Guide students in conducting experiments and using lab equipment to ensure accurate, practical learning outcomes.

  7. Assist students in understanding experimental procedures, analysing results, and preparing lab reports.

  8. Foster a practical understanding of civil engineering concepts through hands-on demonstrations and exercises.

  9. Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting:

  10. Regularly inspect, maintain, and calibrate lab equipment to ensure optimal functionality.

  11. Identify and troubleshoot technical issues with lab instruments, coordinating repairs and replacements as needed.

  12. Maintain a log of equipment usage, servicing schedules, and repair history.

  13. Safety & Compliance:

  14. Ensure that all lab activities comply with safety regulations and institutional policies.

  15. Conduct safety briefings for students and faculty before lab sessions.

  16. Ensure that all safety equipment is functional and available, including first aid kits, fire extinguishers, and protective gear.

  17. Faculty Support:

  18. Collaborate with faculty to design and improve lab experiments and practical coursework.

  19. Assist in the development of new lab activities to align with curriculum requirements.
  20. Provide technical support during research projects and other departmental initiatives.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong technical knowledge of civil engineering equipment and experimental procedures.
  • Experience in mentoring students and facilitating hands-on learning sessions.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and maintaining lab instruments.
  • Knowledge of lab safety protocols and regulations.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Commitment to fostering a safe, engaging, and practical learning environment.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Diploma in civil engineering, with preference for B.E./B.Tech. qualifications
  • 5-7 years of experience in similar labs
  • Experience in the education sector or a similar environment is an advantage.
