Position Summary

The MIT School of Corporate Innovation & Leadership (SCIL) is dedicated to transforming students into impactful, responsible leaders and industry-ready professionals. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Professional Skills Faculty member to design, develop, and deliver comprehensive training programs focused on essential corporate and professional soft skills. This role is crucial in empowering our students with the interpersonal, behavioral, and communication expertise needed to excel in multinational organizations and entrepreneurial ventures.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Curriculum Development & Design:

  2. Design, update, and implement highly engaging, industry-relevant curriculum and training modules for professional soft skills, behavioral skills, and employability enhancement.

  3. Incorporate the latest industry trends, corporate best practices, and effective adult learning principles into all training materials (presentations, handbooks, case studies, etc.).

  4. Instruction & Training Delivery:

  5. Deliver dynamic, interactive training sessions, workshops, and seminars using diverse methodologies (in-person, virtual, blended).

  6. Focus areas include Professional Communication (Verbal & Written), Teamwork & Collaboration, Leadership, Adaptability, Emotional Intelligence, Time Management, Stress Management, and Corporate Etiquette.
  7. Conduct specialized training for Career Advancement activities, such as Group Discussions (GD) and Personal Interviews (PI) with mock sessions and expert feedback.

  8. Student Assessment & Mentorship:

  9. Develop and administer effective assessment tools to evaluate student proficiency and track skill progression.

  10. Provide personalized mentorship and coaching to students, helping them identify and address specific skill gaps for enhanced employability.
  11. Record and monitor student attendance and performance data, providing timely and constructive feedback.

  12. Academic & Industry Collaboration:

  13. Collaborate with other faculty and department heads within SCIL (e.g., Aptitude Skills, Career Advancements) to ensure a holistic and integrated student development experience.

  14. Engage with industry experts and corporate partners to ensure training content remains aligned with real-world corporate demands and placement requirements.
  15. Contribute to the strategic objectives of the school, including program development and quality assurance.

  16. Professional Growth:

  17. Remain current with new training methodologies, corporate HR trends, and industry-relevant technologies to ensure continuous improvement of courses.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Education: A Master's degree (e.g., MBA, M.A. in English / Communication, or a related field) from a recognized institution is required. A Ph.D. or an equivalent terminal degree is highly desirable. SET / NET is preferable.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience as a Corporate Trainer, Professional Skills Faculty, or in a similar role focused on professional development.
  • Proven track record of designing and delivering impactful training programs to university-level students or corporate employees.

Core Competencies:

  • Exceptional Presentation and Facilitation Skills: Ability to command a room, articulate complex ideas clearly, and facilitate engaging group discussions.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Deep knowledge and practical experience in a wide range of professional soft skills and corporate behavior.
  • Curriculum & Instructional Design: Proficiency in developing structured, objective-driven training content.
  • Interpersonal & Communication Skills: Outstanding ability to build rapport, motivate students, and provide effective coaching.
  • Strong Organizational and Time Management abilities to handle multiple modules and student groups simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in Training and Development (e.g., CPTD, ATD) or a related field.
  • Prior experience in a leadership or coordination role within an academic or corporate training environment.
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and technology-enhanced learning tools.
