Role & responsibilities
The Biomedical Engineer will assist in the management and maintenance of medical equipment, support procurement processes, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. This role requires technical expertise in biomedical engineering, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate with healthcare professionals. The Junior Biomedical Engineer will work under the guidance of the Senior Biomedical Engineer to ensure the effective functioning of biomedical systems and enhance patient care.
Technical Support & Equipment Maintenance
- Assist in the installation, calibration, maintenance, and repair of medical equipment.
- Ensure proper functioning of biomedical devices by conducting routine inspections and troubleshooting technical issues.
- Maintain records of service history, equipment status, and preventive maintenance schedules.
Procurement & Inventory Management
- Support the procurement of medical devices by assisting in market research and vendor evaluations.
- Help manage inventory levels, ensuring optimal stock availability of essential biomedical equipment and supplies.
- Coordinate with vendors and service providers for timely repairs and equipment procurement.
Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, ISO, IEC).
- Assist in implementing quality control measures to maintain high standards in medical equipment management.
- Report and document equipment failures or incidents and coordinate corrective actions under the guidance of the Senior Biomedical Engineer.
Clinical & Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with clinicians, nurses, and healthcare staff to understand equipment needs and provide technical support.
- Assist in training hospital personnel on the proper usage and handling of medical devices.
- Participate in clinical trials, data collection, and analysis related to biomedical devices.
Project Assistance & Reporting
- Support biomedical engineering projects, ensuring timely execution and documentation.
- Assist in project planning, including resource allocation and implementation strategies.
- Report progress and challenges to the Senior Biomedical Engineer and seek guidance when required.
Additional Responsibilities
- Stay updated with advancements in biomedical technology and healthcare innovations.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Senior Biomedical Engineer or management
