Financial reporting and analysis

  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
  • Ensure timely and accurate revenue and expense recognition.
  • Generate financial reports and analyze financial information to summarize the organization's financial status.
  • Monitor cash flow and conduct forecasting.

General ledger and reconciliations

  • Manage the general ledger and oversee the posting of journal entries.
  • Perform balance sheet and account reconciliations.
  • Verify, allocate, and reconcile accounts payable and receivable.

Compliance and audits

  • Ensure compliance with accounting principles, such as GAAP, and federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Assist with and coordinate with auditors for both internal and external audits.
  • Manage tax filings, including income, payroll, and other statutory requirements.

Budgeting and planning

  • Assist in developing and monitoring departmental, project, and organizational budgets.
  • Provide financial analysis to help management make informed decisions.

Staff and process management

  • Oversee and train junior accounting staff.
  • Plan, assign, and review the work of accounting staff.
  • Develop and document accounting policies and procedures to improve internal controls and efficiency.
  • Assist with or manage aspects of payroll and accounts payable processing
