Job Title: Research and Development (R&D) Manager - Seasoning and Flavor Solutions

Position Summary:

Research and Development (R&D) Manager for Seasoning and Flavor Solutions will lead the company's efforts to innovate, develop, and improve seasoning products, flavoring systems, and related ingredients for the food industry. This role requires expertise in food science, product development, and seasoning formulation, as well as a deep understanding of consumer preferences and market trends. The R&D Manager will oversee the full lifecycle of seasoning production, from the creation of new flavor profiles to optimizing production processes for efficiency and consistency, ensuring the company's products meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and taste.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Leadership & Vision:

2. Develop and implement an innovative R&D strategy for seasoning products, aligning with company goals and market trends.

3. Lead and mentor the seasoning R&D team, providing guidance on flavor creation, seasoning applications, and new product development.

4. Collaborate with senior leadership to identify growth opportunities in the seasoning and flavor market.

5. Seasoning & Flavor Development:

6. Lead the development of new seasoning blends, flavor profiles, and culinary applications that cater to evolving consumer tastes and preferences.

7. Work with cross-functional teams (e.g., marketing, quality assurance, production) to translate flavor innovations into market-ready products.
8. Explore new flavor trends, including international and ethnic flavors, and incorporate them into product offerings to meet diverse consumer demands.

9. Oversee the production and application of seasoning systems that enhance the taste, texture, and overall quality of food products.

10. Production Process Optimization:

11. Optimize the seasoning production process to ensure cost-effectiveness, scalability, and consistent product quality.

12. Evaluate raw material sourcing for seasonings and ensure the quality, sustainability, and traceability of ingredients used in production.
13. Work with the operations team to develop efficient manufacturing processes that minimize waste and maximize yield while maintaining high-quality standards.

14. Conduct trials to optimize seasoning systems for use in different food applications, such as snacks, meats, sauces, or ready-to-eat meals.

15. Research & Market Analysis:

16. Conduct thorough market research to identify current and emerging trends in flavor, spice, and seasoning applications.

17. Analyze consumer feedback, sensory data, and market trends to inform product development and enhance the appeal of existing products.

18. Stay current with advancements in food science, including seasoning technology, ingredient alternatives, and flavor delivery systems.

19. Innovation & Product Differentiation:

20. Drive the creation of unique, high-quality seasoning blends and culinary solutions that differentiate the company in the marketplace.

21. Innovate new ways of applying seasonings and flavors, such as through natural, clean-label, or plant-based alternatives, to meet growing consumer demand for healthier options.

22. Develop customized seasoning products for B2B clients, such as foodservice providers, restaurant chains, or private label brands.

23. Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance:

24. Ensure all seasoning products adhere to food safety regulations, quality standards, and industry certifications (e.g., FDA, USDA, Kosher, Halal).

25. Collaborate with the quality assurance team to implement and maintain robust quality control measures throughout the development and production process.

26. Work closely with the regulatory affairs team to ensure compliance with labeling, nutritional, and ingredient disclosure requirements for seasoning products.

27. Project Management & Cross-Functional Collaboration:

28. Manage R&D projects from inception to completion, including resource allocation, timelines, and budgets.

29. Facilitate collaboration between R&D, production, marketing, and sales teams to ensure seamless product development and launch.

30. Develop and manage project timelines, track progress, and ensure projects stay on schedule and within budget.

31. Team Development & Talent Management:

32. Recruit, develop, and retain top talent in the R&D team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

33. Provide training and mentorship to R&D staff, helping them expand their expertise in food science, flavor chemistry, and seasoning production techniques.
34. Promote an environment that encourages creativity, experimentation, and knowledge sharing.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemistry, or a related field (Master's or Ph.D. in Food Science or Flavor Chemistry is preferred).
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in R&D within the food industry, with a focus on seasonings, flavors, or culinary applications.
• Expertise in the formulation, production, and application of seasoning blends, including knowledge of flavor chemistry, spices, herbs, and seasoning systems.
• Proven track record of successful product development, particularly in the seasoning, flavor, or spice sectors.
• Strong understanding of food production processes, including scalability and optimization for large-scale production.
• Knowledge of food safety regulations, labeling requirements, and compliance standards related to seasonings and flavor ingredients.
• Exceptional leadership, project management, and communication skills.
• Ability to adapt to changing market conditions and consumer preferences in the food industry.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with natural and clean-label ingredients or sustainable sourcing practices for seasonings.
• Familiarity with international flavor profiles and culinary trends.
• Expertise in sensory analysis and consumer testing methodologies for flavor and seasoning products.

Working Conditions:

• Full-time position, with some travel required for supplier visits, market research, and industry events.
