Job Summary:
The Steward is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen and dishwashing areas. This includes cleaning dishes, utensils, equipment, and kitchen surfaces, as well as assisting with basic kitchen duties as required. The steward plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and sanitary operation of the back-of-house area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, and pans using manual and machine methods.
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment, floors, walls, and workstations.
- Properly store clean kitchen tools and equipment in designated areas.
- Remove trash and waste regularly and follow recycling and disposal protocols.
- Assist in deep cleaning of kitchen equipment and facilities as scheduled.
- Follow all safety and hygiene regulations (HACCP or local standards).
- Report any maintenance issues or broken equipment to the supervisor.
- Support chefs with basic prep tasks if required (e.g., peeling vegetables, organizing storage).
- Ensure dishwashing area is always clean, organized, and well-stocked.
- Assist in setting up and breaking down buffets or events when needed.
Requirements:
- No formal education required; prior experience is a plus.
- Basic understanding of hygiene, cleanliness, and food safety practices.
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift heavy items.
- Ability to work in a hot, humid, and fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Team player with a positive attitude.
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous stewarding experience in a hotel, restaurant, or catering setup.
- Familiarity with commercial dishwashing equipment.
- Knowledge of basic kitchen operations and safety standards.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: ₹15, ₹17,000.00 per month
