Job Title: Quality Control Manager – Fruits & Vegetables

Position Overview:

Fresh2Day Supermarket is looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Quality Control Manager to oversee the quality and freshness of fruits and vegetables in our warehouse operations. The ideal candidate will ensure that all produce received, stored, and distributed meets the highest standards of quality, hygiene, and safety. This role requires strong knowledge of perishable goods, inspection techniques, and supply chain quality practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement quality control procedures specifically for fruits and vegetables across receiving, storage, and dispatch operations.
  • Inspect all incoming produce for freshness, ripeness, damage, and compliance with quality standards.
  • Monitor and maintain optimal storage conditions (temperature, humidity) to preserve freshness and reduce spoilage.
  • Establish quality checkpoints throughout the warehouse, including quarantine zones for rejected items.
  • Conduct regular sampling and grading of fruits and vegetables; document findings and initiate corrective actions where needed.
  • Work closely with procurement and suppliers to resolve quality issues and improve sourcing standards.
  • Train warehouse staff on proper handling, inspection, and storage procedures for perishable goods.
  • Maintain detailed QC records, inspection logs, and compliance reports for audits and internal reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, hygiene protocols, and supermarket quality standards.
  • Participate in vendor evaluations and drive continuous improvement in product quality.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Food Technology, Supply Chain, or a related field.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in Quality Control or Quality Assurance, with at least 5 years handling fresh produce in a warehouse or supermarket environment.
  • Strong knowledge of perishables handling, shelf-life management, and cold chain logistics.
  • Proven ability to manage suppliers and resolve quality-related issues efficiently.
  • Excellent attention to detail, communication, and team leadership skills.
