Job Summary:

The Application Engineer will be responsible for providing technical support in the design, development, and implementation for power electronic applications. This role bridges the gap between customer requirements and internal design/production teams by converting application needs into manufacturable busbar solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

1.     Customer Interaction & Requirement Analysis

·      Act as the primary technical interface for customers on laminated busbar applications.

·      Understand customer requirements, electrical/mechanical specifications, and constraints.

·      Review customer drawings, 3D models, and specifications to propose optimized busbar designs.

·      Support the sales team with technical inputs during RFQ/RFI stages.

2.     Design & Development

·      Develop 2D and 3D models of laminated busbars using CAD tools (SolidWorks, or equivalent).

·      Perform design feasibility checks, tolerance stack-up, and manufacturability analysis.

·      Select appropriate materials (copper/aluminum, insulation, adhesive films) based on current carrying capacity, dielectric strength, and thermal performance.

·      Coordinate with simulation/analysis teams for electrical, thermal, and mechanical validation.

3.     Prototyping & Validation

·      Support prototype build, testing, and design validation.

·      Analyze test results and implement necessary design improvements.

·      Ensure design meets customer and internal quality standards.

4.     Cross-functional Coordination

·      Work closely with production, quality, and purchase teams to ensure smooth product realization.

·      Provide design clarification and technical support during manufacturing and assembly.

·      Participate in DFMEA, PFMEA, and design reviews.

5.     Documentation & Technical Support

·      Prepare and maintain technical documents, BOMs, drawings, and design change notes.

·      Support the preparation of application notes, installation guidelines, and datasheets.

·      Provide post-sales technical support as needed.

·      Prepare and present monthly KPI reports

Required Skills & Competencies:

·      Strong knowledge of power electronics, electrical insulation systems, and thermal management.

·      Proficiency in CAD/CAE tools (SolidWorks / Ansys).

·      Understanding of copper/aluminum conductor design, insulation films (Nomex, Mylar, Kapton), and lamination processes.

·      Familiar with current-carrying capacity, inductance, capacitance, and heat dissipation calculations.

·      Excellent communication and customer interaction skills.

·      Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.

Educational Qualification:

·      B.E. / B. Tech in Electrical, Electronics, or Mechanical Engineering.

·      Postgraduate qualification preferred but not mandatory.

Experience:

· to 6 years of relevant experience in laminated busbar design, power electronics component design, or electrical packaging applications.

·      Exposure to industrial applications like inverters, converters, UPS, traction, or renewable energy systems is an added advantage.

·      RFQ-to-proposal turnaround time.

·      Design-to-production success rate (first-time-right).

·      Customer satisfaction and technical support effectiveness.

·      On-time delivery of design documentation
