About the Team

The Machine Learning and Data Team is central to developing cutting-edge, AI-driven features within Workday Peakon. This highly collaborative team works tightly with Product Managers, Developers, and Designers to bring sophisticated ML/AI capabilities into the product.

About the Role

As a Software Development Engineer in Test, you'll be instrumental in designing, implementing, and executing comprehensive test strategies for ML models and AI-driven features, including data validation, performance benchmarking, bias detection, and ensuring the accuracy and reliability of intelligent agents.

Beyond the core MLE unit, you will collaborate closely with MLOps and Product QA. The team operates in an environment focused on product excellence and growth, requiring you to understand the broader product strategy, contribute to the software development lifecycle, and ultimately take ownership of ML projects to deliver significant business impact.

About You

Basic Qualification 

• Industry Experience: 8+ years of experience as an SDET (Software Development Engineer in Test), with a focus on architecting and building test automation solutions, performance testing frameworks, and CI/CD pipelines for quality assurance.

• Technical Depth: 4+ years of hands-on experience utilising various programming languages (including Phyton), test automation frameworks, and performance testing tools. 1+ years of experience testing AI/ML solutions.

• Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline such as Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Core Qualifications & Technical Skills

• Test Automation & Frameworks: Strong ability in Algorithmic Thinking to design, implement, and optimize complex Test Automation Frameworks.

• ML/AI Testing Expertise: Solid experience with Automated Testing, specifically designing and executing comprehensive test strategies for ML models and AI-driven features, covering data validation, performance benchmarking, bias detection, and ensuring agent accuracy and reliability.

• Programming & SDLC: Strong proficiency in Python and other relevant programming languages for test automation and tool development. Must have a solid understanding of Software Development principles and experience contributing to software projects.

• DevOps & CI/CD: Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and proven experience integrating and optimizing automated testing within the delivery process.

• Version Control: Solid experience with Source Control Management (SCM) tools and advanced branching and merging strategies.

• Test Strategy & Design: Deep understanding of various Testing Strategies and Test Design principles, including the ability to create complex test cases and design comprehensive automation approaches.

Leadership & Collaboration

• Team Leadership: Proven ability to lead Team Collaboration efforts within development and testing teams and mentor junior SDETs.

• Documentation & Management: Experience with Test Documentation standards and the ability to maintain comprehensive records. Good understanding of Test Management tools for planning and tracking automated testing efforts.
