The Opportunity

As a ServiceNow Senior Software Engineer, you will lead, design, develop, configure, and customize (when necessary) ServiceNow applications and services. You will deliver new functionality across applications, support the entire development lifecycle and assist the platform support with product related incident resolution.

This role positions you as a ServiceNow Subject Matter Expert, steering the creation and implementation of automation solutions to optimize Takeda's IT Service Management processes. With a specific emphasis on the ServiceNow Service Catalog module, you will ensure seamless functionality, enhanced operational efficiency, and a user-friendly experience. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality Service Catalog items and workflows within Takeda's ServiceNow platform, leveraging your technical expertise in ServiceNow development practices and a deep understanding of IT Service Management and business process automation.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and customization of Service Catalog items and workflows using Flow Designer, scripting, and APIs to ensure robust and maintainable service request processes.
• Coach team members, including junior developers and external partners, to build technical expertise and improve development quality on ServiceNow Service Catalog module and App Engine to address complex business needs and extend platform capabilities.
• Mentor team members to create scoped applications using App Engine Studio and Flow Designer to address custom business needs and extend ServiceNow beyond out-of-the-box capabilities, while improving operational efficiency. 
• Collaborate with Business Analysts and Product Owners to understand requirements from stakeholders and translate them into efficient technical designs. 
• Collaborate with Business Stakeholders to identify and drive opportunities for App Engine applications that deliver tailored solutions and measurable business value. 
• Design ServiceNow integrations with external systems using REST/SOAP APIs. 
• Design and deliver integrations between ServiceNow and third-party systems to enhance workflow automation. 
• Drive strategic enhancements to improve user experience and implement automation to optimize service delivery. 
• Lead continuous innovation in Service Catalog design and functionality to meet evolving business needs. 
• Understand and guide the team regarding the working environment and come up with solutions to accelerate development timelines 
• Maintain and update Service Catalog offerings to ensure scalability and usability. 
• Prepare detailed documentation on configurations, workflows, and processes to ensure clear communication and future scalability. 
• Present product demos and technical showcases for stakeholders. 
• Ensure Adherence to ServiceNow best practices, Takeda-defined standards, and Agile development schedules.  
• Leverage Takeda's SDLC toolset for efficient development and deployment. 
• Stay updated on ServiceNow advancements, incorporating new features into solutions.  

Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science/Information technology; or relevant work experience.
• 6+ years of experience in architecting, designing and developing ServiceNow solutions (especially, IT Service Management process applications and Service Catalog modules).
• 3+ experience with ServiceNow Service Catalog module is a must.
• 2+ years of experience in developing applications and integrations using AES.
• Proficient in scripting languages like JavaScript, GlideScript, HTML, CSS
• Strong understanding of IT Service Management processes.
• Strong expertise with ServiceNow platform development, especially Service Catalog, Flow Designer, integration and app development
• Proficient in creating Server-side and Client-side scripts, Business Rules, UI Policies, UI Actions, and ACLs.
• Excellent communication skills with ability to communicate complex technical concepts and align organization on decisions.
• ServiceNow System Administrator certification (required).
• ServiceNow Application Developer certification (preferred).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Fluent English (both written and oral).
