Role & responsibilities

  • A SAP FICO consultant with 5-10 years of experience who also has GST (Goods and Services Tax) experience is quite valuable in the current market. The combination of expertise in SAP FICO (Financial Accounting and Controlling) and knowledge of GST is in high demand, particularly in countries like India, where GST has significantly impacted business processes and compliance.Skills and Experience for an SAP FICO Consultant with GST KnowledgeSAP FICO Module Expertise:

  • Financial Accounting (FI): Handling companys financial transactions, managing accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), general ledger (GL), asset accounting (AA), and bank accounting (BA).

  • Controlling (CO): Involved in cost center accounting, internal orders, profit center accounting, product costing, and profitability analysis (CO-PA).
  • Integration Knowledge: Understanding the integration between FICO and other SAP modules like MM (Material Management), SD (Sales and Distribution), PP (Production Planning), and PS (Project Systems).
  • End-to-End Implementation Experience: Leading or participating in SAP implementations, upgrades, or support projects.

  • Configuration & Customization: Configuring SAP FICO based on client requirements, defining chart of accounts, fiscal year variant, document types, posting keys, etc.

  • GST Knowledge:

  • GST Implementation and Compliance: Experience in GST configuration and mapping in SAP. Knowledge of various GST-related processes such as GST returns (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-9), GST invoice formats, input tax credit (ITC), reverse charge mechanism, etc.

  • Integration with SAP FICO: Configuring GST within the SAP system for automated tax calculations (output/input tax), creating tax codes for GST, managing tax jurisdiction codes, and reporting.
  • GST Reporting: Knowledge of generating GST reports directly from SAP, assisting clients with filing returns, and reconciling discrepancies.

  • Customizing SAP for GST: Configuring SAP to handle local tax requirements, compliance, and tax reporting in accordance with GST laws.

  • Technical Skills:

  • ABAP Knowledge: While not mandatory, having basic ABAP (Advanced Business Application Programming) knowledge to customize reports or functionality can be a plus.

  • SAP S/4HANA: Experience with SAP S/4HANA, especially with the latest updates for FICO and GST functionalities.

  • SAP Fiori: Understanding of Fiori applications related to FICO, especially those used for reporting, approvals, and tax-related processes.

  • Industry-Specific Knowledge:

  • Familiarity with the GST rules in specific industries, such as manufacturing, retail, services, and e-commerce.

  • Understanding the implications of GST for both B2B and B2C transactions.

  • Soft Skills and Client Interaction:

  • Consulting & Client Management: Ability to understand client requirements, provide solutions, and manage expectations during project delivery.

  • Training and Documentation: Capability to train users, create user manuals, and provide support in post-implementation phases.

  • Communication Skills: Strong communication skills to interact with business stakeholders, IT teams, and tax consultants.
