Role & responsibilities

Plant Head

Key Responsibilities:

Production Management

  1. Plan, schedule, and execute daily production activities to meet output targets.
  2. Monitor raw material consumption (fly ash, lime, cement, gypsum, aluminium paste, etc.).
  3. Ensure effective utilization of autoclaves, Molds, mixers, and cutting machines.
  4. Minimize production downtime and material wastage.
  5. Coordinate with maintenance team for preventive maintenance of production machinery.

Quality Assurance & Control

  1. Implement and monitor QA/QC procedures as per BIS/ISO standards.
  2. Ensure adherence to block strength, size accuracy, density, and moisture content.
  3. Conduct regular testing (compressive strength, bulk density, etc.)
  4. Maintain quality records, calibration reports, and test logs.
  5. Address customer complaints and initiate corrective actions.

Reporting & Documentation

  1. Prepare daily/weekly/monthly production and quality reports.
  2. Maintain records as per statutory and internal audit requirements.
  3. Monitor process KPIs like yield, rejection, energy consumption, and quality index.

Team Leadership

  1. Supervise and train production and quality teams.
  2. Ensure adherence to safety protocols and 5S practices on the shop floor.

Process Improvement

  1. Analyse process bottlenecks and initiate continuous improvement (Kaizen).
  2. Optimize mix design and autoclaving parameters to enhance block quality.

Compliance & Coordination

  1. Ensure compliance with BIS license, ISO procedures, and environmental regulations.
  2. Coordinate with R&D, Sales, Dispatch, and Maintenance teams.

Shift in-charge/ Executive/Senior Executive - Production

Key Responsibilities:

1. Shift Operations:

  • Plan and execute daily production activities as per the production schedule.
  • Monitor the operation of key equipment such as slurry preparation, pouring, cutting, autoclaving, and Segregation.
  • Ensure optimum utilization of manpower, machines, and materials during the shift.

2. Quality Monitoring:

  • Ensure production of AAC blocks meets quality standards and BIS specifications.
  • Coordinate with the Quality department to take immediate corrective actions on any quality deviations.
  • Minimize rejections and wastage.

3. Manpower Management:

  • Supervise and manage shift operators, technicians, and contract labour.
  • Assign tasks, monitor performance, and ensure discipline and safety among the team.
  • Provide basic training and support to the operators on SOPs and quality practices.

4. Coordination & Communication:

  • Coordinate with Maintenance, Quality, and Utility departments for smooth plant operations.
  • Handover proper shift reports to the incoming shift and report abnormalities to senior management.

5. Production Documentation:

  • Maintain daily shift production logs, downtime records, material usage logs, and manpower deployment sheets.
  • Ensure accurate ERP/Excel data entry for shift-wise production and performance tracking.

6. Safety & Compliance:

  • Ensure strict adherence to plant safety guidelines and SOPs.
  • Report and respond to near-miss incidents or accidents.
  • Maintain cleanliness and follow 5S practices in the work area.

7. Continuous Improvement:

  • Participate in improvement initiatives such as Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, and TPM.
  • Suggest and implement cost-saving and process improvement ideas.
