We are looking for an experienced Lead Backend Engineer to design, build, and scale high-performance backend systems that power modern, reliable products. In this role, you will take ownership of backend architecture and lead the development of scalable, secure, and resilient services using Java and Golang. You will work closely with frontend engineers, product managers, and infrastructure teams to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions. As a technical leader, you will set engineering standards, mentor team members, and drive best practices across code quality, system design, and operational excellence. This is a full-time role suited for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, building distributed systems, and shaping backend platforms for long-term growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and development of backend systems and APIs using Java and Golang.
  • Architect scalable, fault-tolerant, and high-availability services for production environments.
  • Own end-to-end delivery of backend features, from design and implementation to deployment and monitoring.
  • Define and enforce backend engineering best practices, coding standards, and design patterns.
  • Collaborate with product managers to break down requirements into technical solutions and delivery plans.
  • Work closely with frontend and mobile teams to define clean, efficient API contracts.
  • Design and optimize data models, databases, and data access layers for performance and scalability.
  • Build and maintain microservices and event-driven systems where applicable.
  • Ensure system security, data privacy, and compliance with relevant standards and policies.
  • Drive performance tuning, reliability improvements, and capacity planning for backend services.
  • Lead code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and mentor junior and mid-level engineers.
  • Partner with DevOps and platform teams on CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and observability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues, performing root-cause analysis and prevention.
  • Contribute to technical roadmaps and long-term architectural decisions aligned with business goals.
What Makes You a Great Fit
  • Strong hands-on experience building backend systems with Java and/or Golang in production.
  • Solid understanding of distributed systems, microservices architecture, and API design principles.
  • Proven ability to design scalable systems that handle high traffic, low latency, and large datasets.
  • Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, caching layers, and messaging systems.
  • Deep knowledge of concurrency, memory management, and performance optimization.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms, containerization, and modern deployment practices.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with experience guiding technical decisions and mentoring engineers.
  • Ability to balance hands-on coding with high-level architectural thinking.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset with a bias toward simple, maintainable solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Comfort working in fast-paced environments with evolving requirements and priorities.
