Role Overview

The AI Engineer – Medical Devices will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing AI/ML algorithms for Medtra's next-generation healthcare devices, starting with the Veineux AR 100. The role involves working with cross-functional teams including hardware, imaging, biomedical, and clinical experts to build intelligent, real-time, and reliable medical AI solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • AI/ML Algorithm Development – Design, train, and optimize computer vision and deep learning models for real-time vein visualization and related medical imaging tasks.
  • Data Engineering – Collect, preprocess, and annotate large-scale clinical datasets (images, videos, sensor data) for model training and validation.
  • Model Optimization – Deploy lightweight, high-performance AI models optimized for embedded systems and real-time inference.
  • Integration with Devices – Collaborate with hardware/software teams to integrate AI models into medical devices (edge/embedded platforms).
  • Validation & Compliance – Ensure AI solutions meet clinical accuracy, regulatory, and ethical standards (FDA/CE/CDSCO compliance).
  • Research & Innovation – Stay updated with cutting-edge AI/ML research in medical imaging, computer vision, and healthcare applications.
  • Clinical Collaboration – Work with clinicians to validate performance and usability in real-world hospital environments.
  • Documentation & Reporting – Maintain detailed technical documentation for regulatory submissions, IP/patent support, and internal knowledge base.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's/Master's/Ph.D. in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Biomedical Engineering, or related field.
  • 3–8 years of hands-on experience in AI/ML and computer vision applications (preferably healthcare/medical devices).
  • Strong expertise in:
  • Deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras).
  • Computer vision (OpenCV, YOLO, segmentation, detection, image enhancement).
  • Edge/embedded AI deployment (NVIDIA Jetson, TensorRT, ONNX, OpenVINO).
  • Knowledge of medical imaging modalities (ultrasound, X-ray, CT, etc.) preferred.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements for AI in healthcare (FDA AI/ML framework, IEC
  • Strong problem-solving, research, and mathematical modeling skills.
  • Ability to work in cross-disciplinary teams with hardware and clinical experts.
