Nextiva is seeking a Software Engineer I to join our expanding development team. This role is responsible for developing new applications, supporting existing systems, performing application testing, and providing user support. The ideal candidate thrives in collaborative problem-solving environments, values quality and maintainability, and is eager to learn and apply new technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain RESTful web applications
• Develop distributed, scalable, fault-tolerant software systems
• Partner with product teams to prioritize customer-focused features
• Write, test, review, and deliver maintainable code
• Support existing applications by diagnosing and resolving issues
• Document major changes and share knowledge across the team
• Actively pursue automation to eliminate repetitive tasks
• Continuously learn and apply new development tools and practices

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
• 2+ years of software development experience
• Proficiency in Java (Java 8+), Spring Framework, Maven
• Understanding of RESTful services, UNIX systems, relational databases, and SQL

Preferred Experience

• Redis, RabbitMQ, Kafka, Postgres, Docker/Kubernetes, ElasticSearch
• Designing externally consumable APIs
• Applying security best practices
