Job Context & Major Challenges
Job Context
Birla Carbon is having presence across 12 countries with 16 manufacturing facilities for a combined annual production capacity of over 2 million tonnes. Corporate Finance plays an important role in financial planning, reporting and controls to create value for the business.
The position is responsible to support supporting Financial Analysts in detailed analysis of plant financial and technical performance and assist in preparation of monthly & quarterly reporting and analysis along with the global consolidations of actual results and supporting the budget and forecasting process.
Major Challenges
- Cross cultural behaviour which involves establishing effective coordination among various plants/geographies with different time zones.
- Financial analysis at granular level, understanding of the business context and needs of the users of those analyses.
- Carefully working on data from different sources, ensuring Accuracy of analysis and Timeliness of the reports.
- Regular monitoring and identification of unusual pattern
- Establish repository of knowledge base over period of time and timely application of same
- Keeping abreast with the changes in Carbon Black eco-system on timely basis

KRA1 1. Monthly & Quarterly Business Review Presentation
- Assist in review of performance (Operating KPIs, Fixed spending, working capital, Cash Flow including cash profit) for all the plants based on reports received from plant controllers, accessing the relevant information directly in SAP and other reporting tools like HFM, BW, EssBase etc.
- Assist in preparation of analysis/explanations on deviations from Budget/prior periods/forecasts.
- Assist in Preparation of Monthly Review, SMT and BRC presentations.
KRA2 2. Periodic Forecasting and Updates
- Assist in analysis of periodic forecast and updates provided by plants with special focus on Fixed Cost & Plant Operational KPI's.
- Assist in analysis of forecasted Cash Flow including Cash Profit along with supporting review of Other Asset and Liabilities and other key items in Balance Sheet.
KRA3 3. Annual Planning and Budgeting Activity
- Assist in analysis of Operational KPI's and Fixed Cost forecasted by plants by doing comparative analysis with historical and recent trends for all factors and other relevant information.
- Assist in analysis of Budgeted Cash Flow statement including Cash Profit, Working Capital, Other Assets, Liabilities and other items in Balance Sheet.
- Support Consolidations team with any consolidation's issues.
- Preparation of KVD.
KRA4 4. Routine Financial & Other Analysis
- Assist in analysis of Weekly Manufacturing Report provided by Manufacturing Head's.
- Preparation and analysis of Cost centre wise spending for each site.
- Analysis of inventories of packaging & Stores & Spares.
- Periodic analysis of Interest and tax expenses site wise.
KRA5 5. Ad hoc projects and analysis
- As may be required at by stakeholders in Corp. Office / Group
