Software Development Engineer II, Transact

As a Software Development Engineer in Transact org, you will work to enable the movement of critical Amazon data allowing business service workloads to operate regions of their choice. The end-state architecture will enable services to break region coupling while retaining the ability to keep critical business functions within a region. This architecture will improve customer latency through local affinity to compute resources and reduce the blast radius in case of region failures.

The ideal engineer for this space will be highly quantitative, have great judgment and passion to design and build a great customer experience, be inventive, and have a strong track record of delivery. You also have a pragmatic approach and iterative approach to building software: you have an ability to simplify and get things done with a demonstrated track record of building and delivering software and working effectively with external and internal teams.

Key job responsibilities
1. Independently Design distributed software using object oriented approach/technologies
2. Ability to find bottlenecks in existing code/design and come up with solution to address it
3. Design/develop services which can handle huge data (TB/PB) with low latency (milliseconds)
4. Can understand business needs, pain points and translate them to working solution/design/code
5. Very fast and independent in resolving technical issues, understanding design/code and elegant coder
6. Can mentor, guide and review work of other SDEs

The Transact org supports the Amazon builders by providing technologies for Transactional Storage, high cardinality configuration storages, and safe movement of Amazon Data. Our projects support Amazon businesses like Stores, Alexa, Kindle, and Prime Video. We drive adoption of ever-evolving AWS and non-AWS technologies, and work closely with AWS teams to improve AWS public offerings. Our org focuses on robust and scalable solutions, simple to use, and delivered with engineering best practices. We leverage and build foundational infrastructure capabilities, tools, and datasets that enable Amazon teams to delight our customers. Basic Qualifications:
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 3+ years of Video Games Industry (supporting title Development, Release, or Live Ops) experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications:
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
