Job Description
We're looking for an exceedingly talented Technical Lead to work as part of the Risk Intelligence Engineering team.
As a Technical Lead in the team, you'll be responsible for the technical direction of our Risk Products, ensuring that we are using appropriate technologies and helping drive initiatives to bring customer value and efficiency in operation. You'll work closely with architects to ensure that technical choices are aligned with the overall architecture of our products.
This role includes participation in an on-call rotation to support critical production systems outside of regular business hours. Candidates should be prepared to respond to incidents, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate with relevant teams to ensure service continuity and minimal downtime.
Mentoring members of the team also forms a crucial part of the role, working alongside the team management to ensure that the team has the capabilities it needs to deliver.
Main Responsibilities / Accountabilities:
- Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable Python code & AWS based on User Stories.
- Develop software using disciplined software development processes, adhering to team/company standards and software best practice guidelines, and corporate policies.
- Lead groups of engineers and management to coordinate and deliver larger developments.
- Ensure that there is a focus on software quality through effective testing, doing what is necessary to provide a framework for teams to understand the quality of our developments.
- Work closely with the QA team to ensure that code is developed to a high quality, evidenced through automated testing.
- Create, review, and maintain all required technical documentation to ensure supportability and reuse
- Review work of peers and more junior developers.
- Assist with improvements to prevent problems, including problem resolution workflow.
- Actively participate in team and status meetings, providing timely status updates for areas of individual responsibilities within projects to supervisor

Essential Skills/Experience Required:
- Experienced Lead engineer (6-9years) with excellent knowledge of AWS Architecture, Python language.
- Solid grasp of object-oriented programming.
- Familiar with various design patterns.
- Experienced software engineer with extensive knowledge of HTML5 and the JavaScript language ES5/6/7
- Proficient understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around such issues
- Experience of unit testing JavaScript
- Solid understanding of security implications and secure coding
- Familiar with RESTful interfaces
- Familiarity with front-end build tools, such as Grunt, , webpack
- Good understanding of browser rendering behaviour and performance
- Self-starter - does what it takes to get the job done
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
- Skill for writing clean, readable code and reusable components · Proficient using source code management tools such as Git or SVN
- Experienced in a formal agile software development lifecycle.
- Familiar with continuous build and integration
- Experience with Test Driven Development and / or Behaviour Driven Development
Good to have: Exposure to Java and experience working in polyglot environments. This helps in cross-functional collaboration and system-level design across diverse tech stacks.

Education/ Certifications:
A good relevant Engineering degree is desirable, but experience and the right approach to work are just as important.
